On the way to silver dollar city we stopped to get gas and found a little orange kitty sitting next to the pump, drove 30 minutes here because they wouldn’t answer their phone. Just for us to walk in and ask for help, and the woman behind the counter immediately starts yelling at us. Not helpful at all. Claim they rescue cats, from where? Another shelter? Where they were already rescued? Didn’t give us any information for where to go or what to do with her. Very rude and unprofessional. Thankfully an older woman who was just a customer came outside to greet us and was very interested in taking her home instead of rescuing a cat from this shelter after experiencing how the woman inside behind the counter, yelled at us.
Edit: To say that we did not care about that cat enough to take it home is absolutely not true. We are not from here and are 4 hours away from home on vacation. We found the kitten 30 minutes outside of your shop sitting next to a pump at a gas station where the attendant working said a truck had came and just dropped her. We stayed at the station for another 20 minutes to figure out what to do while looking up shelters in the area. All of them were closed until 11am or 12pm and yours was the only one open. Like I said, we called multiple times and no response so we decided to drive there. Once there, please don’t lie and say you calmly spoke to us when the moment you saw that kitten in my arms you started to yell and tell us that you would lose your license and to leave. Yes, you did tell my “accomplice” about A (singular) shelter in the area but by that time I was already outside with the older woman that ended up taking the kitten home. I also never insinuated that you mistreat your cats. You have no information online about not rescuing cats from outdoors, I had no idea about your policies considering it was not a planned rescue. I did not expect you NOR ask you to completely stop what you were doing to help us. I walked in, curious, about what you could do to help. And with that I was met with disrespect. Instead, maybe work on calmly speaking to people in times of stress. You were incredibly unprofessional today and I...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this cat cafe when we were searching for things to do in the area. We were in town for a few days, and decided to email the cafe to see if we can schedule a time to come in to have drinks with the cats. We were able to get in the next day, and so excited we did. We're huge animal lovers, and really like the idea of partnering with the local animal shelter to find homes for these wonderful cats. We took our two school-age children to the cafe. They offer a variety of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks such as smoothies, which our kids really enjoyed. Mochas and Meows is split into two sections- the cafe and then the cat room. The cafe/coffee part of the center, is open during business hours to just stop in and purchase drinks. However if you're interested in going in to snuggle and meet the kitties in the cat area, they suggest that you book an appointment ahead of time. This way they're not too many people in with the cats at one time which can be overwhelming for the animals. There are openings sometimes however, if the center is not fully booked.
The staff was very welcoming, the drinks were delicious, and the employee in with the cats was very helpful, informative, and kind as well. You order drinks ahead of time, and then when you have your drinks, you can go in to meet the kitties. Inside the cat room, there's plenty of seating, small tables, and lots of cat toys. There are waivers to fill out as well before meeting the cats.
I love that this wonderful cafe has already found more than 150 adoptions for their cats! What a fantastic idea, and great partnership! Would encourage anyone who loves animals, coffee, or just to support a fantastic organization, to stop by and visit. Would go back again and...
Read moreI had never been to a cat cafe before and now I'm in love! My favorite place on earth now. TO ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWERS- You obviously don't understand how hard it is for cats to heal from traumatic experiences and you know zero about cats! These babies are healing and learning to trust humans again so YES of course they have rules about holding and touching the cats so that they are not frightened!! Also you are warned about possible scratching or biting. If you were to open your eyeballs when you walk in the cat lounge you would see pictures and names of the cats there along with notes about their personalities. If your kids can't follow rules then maybe they should sit outside the lounge and watch through the nice, large glass windows. YES it costs to hangout with the cats so the rescue has a way to make money to care for the cats. Comments about rude employees- Everyone, even you and me have bad days! It's not fair to leave one star reviews because 'how dare someone have a bad day'. Complaints about waiting in lines- this should make you happy that to see that these cats are making more money so they can get vet bills paid, buy food to eat regularly and buy kitty litter, etc. PLEASE be respectful and kind when leaving reviews that could discourage people from supporting animal rescues!! I don't know any of these "karens" but I want to apologize on their behalf. Your rescue does not deserve these...
