Definitely not the right hotel for a romantic getaway! My husband reserved a jacuzzi suite for my birthday. Check-in was fine, and the first impression of the room was great. It was spacious and appeared clean, but when we started to settle in, we began realizing how many things were wrong. BATHROOM ISSUES: - Sliding door has no handles or latch. Without finger nails, it can't be closed from the inside. Then, it slides open due to its own weight, so there is absolutely no privacy. We put a folded wash cloth over the small stopper at the bottom to keep it from opening automatically every time. - No towel bars or robe hooks except for a small one for a hand towel near the light switches. - No tissues or place for any. - Lighting is too dim. MAIN ROOM ISSUES: - No closet. Free-standing one bolted to wall is inadequate space-wise and length-wise. It will not accommodate a knee-length dress, drawers are inconvenient to use with clothes hanging, and only 1 hanger was provided. - There are no pictures or other decorations on the walls, so acoustics are awful. A normal speaking voice echoes in the corner near the bed. - Air conditioner front panel was partially off and husband had to install it properly so that the settings could be seen and adjusted. - Furniture is not appropriate for a hotel. Bottom drawer of dresser is too heavy & very difficult to open or close even when empty. - Curtains are directly over the air conditioner and wouldn't stay closed with air flow. - Freezer was filthy - not rust, food of some sort. Can holder in fridge was missing a piece, so cans fell out. - 2 pillow cases were ragged, one actually torn. - Inadequate electrical outlets, and no USB ports or outlets on household-type lamps. Had to remove clock on one side of the bed to plug in anything else. - Coffee pot was on top of the microwave, which was on top of the fridge . . . 3 electrical appliances, only 2 outlets available. - Coffee supplies were stuffed in ice bucket beside coffee pot on microwave rather than placed on a tray in an appropriate location. - Only 2 places for 2 people to watch TV were the table with 2 chairs at one end of the room and the bed and chair at the opposite end. The TV is on the dresser in the center of the room, which is not on a swivel. The top of the dresser is badly scratched from guests dragging it as they turn the TV so they can watch it. POSITIVES: - The jacuzzi tub was excellent, though the outside surfaces were gritty. -Breakfast was the best set-up we've ever seen in a hotel, and accommodated huge crowds with very little inconvenience. The food was good.

Updated 9/9:

Okay, this is definitely not a place we will ever stay at again. It was problem after problem from the time we got there.

Our 'vacation package' sponsor called over when we got there to see if we could check in, and they confirmed Yes and told us we had a room on the 1st floor (as we had requested due to a relative who had walking problems).

When we got to the hotel (about 15 minutes later) we were told we would be on the 2nd floor. When asked about what we just told, we were told, in a somewhat snotty tone, that there are no guarantees of choice of rooms. They said they at least gave us a room by the elevator.

Okay, so we went up to the room... 3rd building, only 1 other car there. Got up to the room and the below (original review) happened. Needless to say we were not very happy at this point.

We went ahead and brought our stuff up to the new room, and things seemed to be okay.

I will say that the rooms are not all that big, and it doesn't help when the sink is in the 'room' and not in the bathroom. It really couldn't be as the bathroom is barely big enough for the tub and toilet (seriously, you have to almost step into the tub, or to the side of the toilet to shut the bathroom door, and I have pictures of this).

We made do for Thurs and Friday, until there was a power outage (apparently a transformer blew somewhere close and power was partially on in that area... partially meaning some rooms and hallways had power, others didn't. Same as the elevator!).

My relative was able, barely, to walk up the stairs for the next 2 days, as the elevator kept being up, then down.

Finally, on Sunday afternoon I went to the office and complained about the situation... I was extremely upset. My relative was starting to have problems getting up the stairs.

The person in the office offered to do something for us, but I told him that it was too late, that we were leaving in the morning and it wasn't worth us moving to another room for 1 night (especially since we would have to carry luggage there). On my way out the person said, very loudly "Thank you for not allowing me to help you".

We checked out Monday morning.

In the meantime, we told our sponsor about this, and they said they'd had other complaints also.

Had the hotel lived up to what they said about us getting a first floor room, we probably wouldn't have had any problems. There were hardly any others in the 3rd building, so why they didn't is unknown to me. We found out that others from our sponsor did get to stay on the 1st floor, so why not us? Again, at the time we checked in there were only 1, maybe 2 others in that building.

The 'appearance' of the hotel is nice, but the staff and service were definitely not nice.

Not going to go back there again. As soon as I can get contact information for the owner of the property (if they don't see this), I am also filing my complaint with her. Original Review:

Check in was not very pleasant. The first room we were given was not clean... There was black stuff around some of the baseboard in the bathroom, and the tile floor was not very clean (the grout).

When we contacted the front desk they went ahead and gave us a different room near the first one. We checked it and it looked better.

We just checked in so we will see how things go the rest of our stay. I may adjust the...

I booked two rooms for seven. Three adults and four kids. The advertising said the rooms were two queen beds in each room. We were placed in building 2 on the 3rd floor, rooms 2322 and 2326, anyways back to the point. I have a queen bed at home so I was hopeful this would accommodate all of us. However when we arrived at 4 p.m we got up to the rooms to find the beds were full sized not queen. The bathroom is very very small. You can't open or shut the bathroom door because your knees blocks the doors path. If you're not with family it would be impossible to get dressed inside the bathroom. The sink is right behind the doorway to enter the room. My children and my husband hit me several times in the back with the door coming into the room because they didn't know I was there. The sink is literally right behind the door to your room. The metal handle really hurts when it hits you in the back. I am bruised up because of being hit by the door 4 times in a span of four nights. Nobody came to clean the rooms or restock the rooms with toilet paper or wash cloths or towels. I had to purchase those items myself at a local store. I was never able to use the pools or hot tubs because the guest can be very rude such as a large woman was in the hot tube and she was all sprawled out taking up the entire hot tub, the hot tub is very little. People in the pools were splashing water so high in the air without care for anyone else and their space using the same pool we all paid for not considering that some people didn't want to get their hair wet or chlorine water in their eyes, or even the fact that some people were not strong swimmers such as small children. I never used the pool for this reason and it was over ran by the same people every single time you would try to go to the pool. I have photos of the trash cans being overly full resulting in a purchase of trash bags and taking the trash to the hallway for the cleaners to pick that up. The phones are not hooked up to the wall so they don't work automatically like you would think. The refrigerator didn't work in our room but did work in our kids room so we used their refrigerator so a lot of running back and forth. Teenagers in the hallway outside of our room yelling into Styrofoam cups, teenagers running up and down the the hallways sounded like a stamped of elephants. Teenagers we didn't know banging on my children's door and running away before they would open the door to see who was knocking. My son caught the Teenagers in the peep hole it was the same Teenagers yelling in the Styrofoam cups earlier that day. I heard the two teens say " I don't know where our room is while laughing. I opened the door when I heard the yelling because I was making sure it wasn't my children because they know better! I was ready to scold my children because the noise was so close only to find out it was someone else's kids. I will not be returning to the stone castle...
