This McDonald's saved my life.
I went in here some 4 years ago after my wife and I talked it over and decided to get a divorce. It was amicable, but I still felt a strong sense of failure and pain as anyone would. My wife was planning to move away to Canada, as well, along with our two sweet little girls (they were her's from a previous marriage, but we were all really close and they loved me. They even called me Dad.) It was heartbreaking to think that the best woman I know, and my two precious daughters would be leaving my life forever. I kind of let my emotions get to me and over the course of a week things became really bad. I started drinking and I could barely move, I blew loads of money hoping that I would feel better. I would get home late and cry because I missed what I used to have so much. I was miserable.
One night I was walking home intoxicated from the bar when I made a drunken choice to just give up already and die. I was in so much pain, and I kept telling myself how much of a failure I was. I felt disgusting and useless and unworthy of existence, and that's when I saw this McDonald's around the corner. For some reason, something inside me was telling me to go in. And Lord, thank God I did. Because this McDonald's was so damn horrible that it made even a pathetic loser like me feel successful in comparison. The atmosphere and the staff were just so insufferably awful that it inspired me to keep on living, and reminded me that things could be so, so much worse. I listened to the staff bicker while Flo Rida played softly in the background, and a smile appeared on my face for the first time in days. I went home that night and decided to get my life together, move out, and move on with my life. Since then I've remarried and I have a 1 year old son and a husband that I love to death. I would not be there right now if not for this experience. If there is any single thing to take away from this, it's that even at our lowest points, none of us can ever be worse than the Spout Springs...
Read moreJust left McD’s in front of Kroger on Spout Springs. After picking up our food, promptly threw it all away and went to Moe’s. If you are Covid conscious, DO NOT GO HERE. We ordered at the drive through, and the worker that gave us our food did not have a mask on and put his fingers inside the extra cups we asked for (to pour milk into for our kids so they wouldn’t spill it). After we left, we at least figured that since the Happy Meal toys were sealed, they’d be safe. Well, shame on us for assuming that good old McD’s could get a two Happy Meal order correct...they only put a toy in one of the two meals. So, inside I went to stop the disappointment that was happing with my kiddos. Once inside, I saw that the mask-less employee at the drive through was just following store protocol- Out of the 7 employees I was able to see (3 were back in the food- prep window. I bent down to see if at least they were being more health conscious) only one front line employee had a mask on, and she promptly took it off once she got back near the fry station. From the manager down (I think he was the manager- he was the only one in a collared shirt and nicer pants) masks were either being worn as chin warmers or not at all. Only one food-prep worker was wearing a mask. We know that McDonalds isn’t the first thing one thinks of when you think of healthy or cleanliness, but we do expect more community consciousness from a national chain. My family will be spending a little more to go to cleaner, safer restaurants...
Read moreI went through drive thru this morning and asked for 2 extra crispy bacon biscuit and hashbrowns combos with sprite to drink. The young guy taking my order says "so you don't want a bacon, egg, and cheese combo?" No---2 bacon biscuit, hashbrowns and drink combos. I pull up to pay and was asked if I had the 2 bacon biscuits---yes I do....takes my card, swipes it and gives me my card and receipt----no thank you, no pull to the next window...nothing. I pull up and was given my drinks and was asked to park in #4 and someone would bring my food out shortly. Better attitude than the first window. It wasn't long til I got my food and I checked it---OMG---it was literally 1 small piece of bacon broke in half on both biscuits! I had to be somewhere so I decided to call them---literally called them 8 times throughout the day and NO ONE answered. This food was for my 5 & 7 year old grandsons. Who in their right mind can eat just one small piece of bacon! I took a picture and I'm gonna be sending it to corporate. I look at my receipt and it wasn't even rang up as a combo it was rang up individual items except for the hashbrowns were 2 for $1.00---woohoo you saved me on the hashbrowns but charged me almost $5.00 for 2 biscuits. I have been in customer service so I know how to treat customers and I have never had a problem with your evening crew!!! This is rediculous and sad. I will not be going there for...
