It's almost like this restaurant completely gave up, what used to be packed was quite empty for lunch. There was a hair in my food, error after error, and poor service all around. As soon as we were seated the nightmare started. We were seated in a table that was broken, the lightest touch and tilted like a seesaw. The hostess gave us attitude just for asking to be moved. Then came one of the worst waitresses I have ever encountered (receipt said name was Evan but not sure). After a long wait she finally showed up. Our party of 3 all asked for water, waitress only brought one water? Asked for water again but waitress forgot again. We've now been waiting quite a while and waitress finally asks for our drink order, so we order drinks and say we are ready to order food. Waitress says she can't take the food order yet? what?! And that she'll be back, proceeds to disappear. Drinks don't come out for 15 minutes and waitress doesn't show up once. Finally waitress comes to take the order, she repeats the order twice incorrectly. Part of order does come promptly but waitress put in the wrong order (potato crisps instead of country potatoes). Have to flag her down to address it and ask for water AGAIN.

Finally my meal comes last, there's a GIANT HAIR across my breakfast sandwich. Of course waitress is missing again. After 5 minutes of waiting, i get up and go find her myself, I explain the situation and she says she'll be right there. Waitress proceeds to walk past our table and take another parties order, take payment from another table, and actively ignoring us. Everyone is almost done eating and I am still sitting with a plate with a hair in front of me. No offer to remake it, no offer for another item, just ignored. I get up and request a manager. When the manager shows up i'm heated and complaining at the lack of service/food/errors. Waitress proceeds to walk up and lie, says she did address the hair with me but no manager was around? What??!!! Also tells the manager look there's a glass of water on the table so what's the issue?

Manager was just as incompetent. First question manager asked was "do you want to keep the plate or would you like me to remake it?" Who would say yes I want to eat the food with hair in it thats been sitting untouched for what was probably 15 minutes? Manager completely ignores and fails to address the service complaints. Replacement plate took just as long to make yet it looked like it was microwaved (limp yet steaming croissant sandwich). Manager then says "I took the sandwich off your bill and I also took the replacement sandwich off" So she was going to charge me for both?? Oh and at the time the replacement showed up is when the Country Potato finally showed up for the error the waitress first made.

Manager did not assign another waitress to us and old waitress continued to completely ignore us. Yet found it in her heart to show up for payment and sarcastically say she hopes we had a great time...

Our unlucky? first experience at Toast

This review is meant to be constructive and in no way derogatory of Toast. It seems like it can be a great place. I wanted to contact the owner or someone directly instead of putting this out there, but I see no way of contacting anyone, so here it goes...

My girlfriend and I were very excited to try Toast. It seemed to have great reviews, we've heard great things from friends, and the place looked nice in pictures. We finally decided to make a reservation and come in this morning. Our excitement was immediately met with a very impatient and a little bit of a rude host. We practically had to chase him to our table. It was like he meant to say, "follow me to your table...IF YOU CAN!" as he charged away.

When we got to our table, it was immediately clear it hadn't been cleaned. There was dry yolk on the table and crums all over the seats. I used a menu to dust our seats clean. There was dried up something on the wall beside me, and a dirty burnt up candle with an old French fry inside of it to compliment the ambiance. The baseboards along the booths had dirt and grime gathered up against them. The place was just filthy.

Despite these things appearing like they'd been there for weeks (if not longer), we figured it's Saturday, it's busy. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and see what happens. We got a couple of coffees and glasses of water. The water glasses had dried food stuck to the outside of them. Despite ALL OF THIS, we hung in there and ordered a few eggs benedicts. The food came out pretty quickly, but when it did, the eggs were cold! I couldn't believe it! It seemed like they came out too quickly to be this cold.

It was at this point I gave up. Was it our unlucky day at Toast? Maybe. But this was a whole lot of bad for a single experience. I dont think I'll be willing to give it another try, at least for a very long time, anyway.

I'll give credit where credit is due, though. The presentation of the food was gorgeous and it probably would have tasted good too if it wasn't so cold. The staff was MOSTLY friendly. I feel like Toast may have some small changes to make to get back on track. I definitely see the potential of this place.

A weird experience for sure. We went to IHOP afterwards (LOL). The food wasn't as pretty, but the establishment was cleaner and the...

We made 8am reservation for 4 on Father’s Day 2025. As soon as we’re greeted by the host wearing a suit and tie. The outfit greatly enhanced the entire dining experience. He quickly finds our reservation and we’re seated within a minute. All the servers are wearing black with the restaurant beautifully decorated. We had a toddler with us so it was nice of them to seat us in a booth towards the end of the restaurant since the kids can get boisterous. Everyone wished me a Happy Father’s Day and I felt like a VIP there. We ordered 2 waters but the server was so thoughtful and brought waters for all 4 of us. I asked my country potatoes to include sausage gravy, when the plate first arrived without the gravy, I didn’t even notice, our dear server, Jacob, immediately grabbed the plate and apologized for the missing gravy and brought it back smothered. The sausage gravy is worth the extra charge since the sausage pieces are HUGE. I ordered the filet mignon eggs Benedict and although the filet could be more rare, it was still tender and the eggs perfectly runny. My son ordered the simple breakfast with 2 scrambled eggs and was shocked at how much eggs were on the plate. The simple breakfast comes with toast and oh man, that was some beautiful toast. My wife got the salmon Benedict eggs with hash browns. We’ve never seen hash browns fried to such perfection. They must throw them in the fryer instead of the grill top cause each piece was crispy golden brown. Daughter was sick so we just got her the fries and chicken tenders. That plate came out freshly fried. Those fries were not sitting on a warming pan. They came fresh out of the fryer. So I can understand why this place has a 4 star. You come with a big party with high expectations and order food with special instructions, it’s going to get shifty. Not sure how much kitchen space they have but there was a ton of tables so it’s understandable they can get easily overwhelmed. Our total bill was $110 and added a 20% tip. Breakfast for a family of four at such a lovely classy restaurant on Father’s Day with such amazing service...

This was at least a 5☆experience I have only had breakfast here because I'm a big fan of their eggs benedict. Today I was in the mood for the filet mignon w/Bernaise sauce. It was very good. However, next time I will request the filet to be medium rather well done. Usually get the more traditional benny one with the shoulder ham that I can get only here. A very tasty style bacon which I really prefer. The times we have come, we have been blessed with outstanding servers, especially today (See picture). He has a very unique name that I unfortunately forgot how to pronounce let alone spell. What a top notch individual, very professional, friendly and an absolute delight! We had just returned from 5 glorious days in Santa Barbara eating at the best it had to offer. Thought when we got back home it would be the end of being pampered. I was wrong. In my opinion, you should have a better rating at least a 4.5. It was our first meal back. Not dissapointed! "You hit it out of the park"! Thank you for a wonderful welcome home. I also want mention Your manager, and I am sorry, i should have asked for her card. She deserves our kudos as well for hiring the best. Thank you! Regarding the front desk, one individual I spoke to on the phone today at 10:30ish could have been a little bit friendlier and helpful. I called to inform someone that we might be a bit late by 10 minutes for our 11:30 a.m reservation and he told me "to just come and you"ll be seated." When we arrived on time, the two young ladies at the desk though very busy, were quick, efficient and charming under very adverse conditions. Judging by the chaotic activity at the entrance I have a better understanding that he was probably helping out with the phones. Everything worked out fine. We were, in fact, seated immediately. Our server was calming and very pleasant to talk to.

I went on a Friday at noon, I reserved through Open Table just in case. I have never been here and to get in was somewhat of a challenge as there is construction on the other side of parking lot so you can only get in 1 entrance. There is plenty of parking. They have indoor as well as patio dining available. The restaurant is large and very clean and inviting. They let us know that many associates are newer and they are understaffed, which I appreciated. We were sat within 5 everything on the menu sounded delicious. I decided on the Mexican Mocha latte to drink, hot. It was delicious. My friend ordered the coconut orange jealous, it was very refreshing. For food we decided on the House French toast with hashbrown chips. The French toast was great, I didn't need to use any syrup as it was sweet enough. I would suggest the 1/2 serving unless you are sharing. The hashbrown chips were a little to small I thought, I felt like I needed to eat with a spoon. They were also too salty in my opinion. My friend ordered the Perfect avocado toast on sourdough with poached eggs and a side of country potatoes. She enjoyed hers as well. I noticed on Taco Tuesdays they tortillas are made fresh in house. We definitely will be back to enjoy more good eats. Our server was Dena, she was very nice and professional. The business was running smoothly, even though they mentioned being shirt staffed. I did not notice a delay in service or food.

Toast in Brea is a great spot for breakfast or brunch, and I’m so glad I finally got to try it. I met a girlfriend here for breakfast, and we had a really enjoyable time. The atmosphere is clean, inviting, and spacious—there’s plenty of room to sit and relax without feeling crowded. The menu has a little bit of everything, from classic breakfast dishes to Mexican-inspired plates, so it’s tough to choose. After some debate, I went with the country fried filet mignon, and it was absolutely delicious. The portion was huge, the filet mignon was cooked perfectly, and the breading was crispy without being too heavy. Definitely a dish to share if you’re not super hungry, but I’d happily order it again. I also tried the eggs Benedict, which were excellent—simple, fresh, and satisfying. Toast also has a nice selection of mimosas and breakfast cocktails, which is always a fun bonus. It’s a great spot to meet friends for a relaxed brunch. The staff were friendly and attentive, and everything came out hot and fresh. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back the next time I’m in the area. If you’re in Brea and looking for a reliable breakfast or brunch option with a lot of variety, Toast is worth checking out.
