SHAME on Bandu Khan - that place needs to get shut down - drive a mile more to Taal instead!
Just like you immediately size up a Mexican restaurant by trying their chips and salsa, I do the same with just the white rice of an Indian place...Taal's WHITE RICE ALONE slaps (if that makes sense). If that ain't enough, move on to their piping hot garlic Naan, this place does not disappoint.
I love every dish we've tried here (Paneer, Curry Chicken, Chicken Tika Masala, chicken Beryani to name a few). What especially stood out for us is when we told their staff over the phone that we were observing Ramadan and that we were breaking our fast in 15 minutes, their staff catered to us as if we were their own - very attentive and super friendly.
If you don't like sweet, keep it safe and order the "curry chicken", you won't be disappointed. Word of caution: these guys take their heat seriously so be careful HAHA.
Taal, you're a credit to good eats in our lovely city of Brea. You are worthy of praise, keep up the fantastic work!
Cheers!
UPDATE: 6/20/24
their chicken is halal. Stellar people,...
Read moreWe are new to LA area and keep trying new Indian restaurants. We ordered Egg Chow Mein, Chilli Chicken, Thukpa Tibetan Stew with Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan. We order the spice level as "Spicy" for all dishes.
Our collective thoughts as a family of 3 who ordered and tasted all the dishes: Egg Chow Mein: Very Tasty and will be a repeat order for us (10/10) Chilli Chicken: somehow we thought it will be with gravy but it was Dry (suited as an appetizer) - it was good but may not be a repeat order. (7/10) Thupka Tibetan Stew: Very Tasty and will be a repeat order but we may take off Chicken from it. (10/10) Garlic Naan: Very soft and tasty, the size is huge, will be a repeat order. (10/10) Chicken Tikka Masala: Chicken was super tender and well cooked but the gravy had an over dose of Tomato base. We will try Butter Chicken next...
Read moreWe recently revisited Taal after almost 20 years, and we're happy to report that it's still a gem. Initially, we were a bit unsure if the food would still hold up, especially since we are very picky about authentic Indian cuisine. Taal does have a slight Nepali twist, which adds a unique touch to their dishes.
We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegetable Korma, and roti. The food tasted a bit different from other Indian restaurants we've tried, but in a good way. The flavors were rich and satisfying, showing that Taal still maintains its quality and authenticity after all these years.
The service was moderate—not exceptional, but certainly adequate. Overall, our experience was quite positive. Taal is definitely a place we'll be returning to. If you're looking for good Indian food with a unique twist, this is a spot worth...
