So me and a friend decided to have girls night out at Bernice bbq since we seen the reviews from the black foodies. We arrived on 4/22/24 at 6:45pm. We were told we could sit ourselves. There was a live bad playing at the time, while waiting for our waitress to come take our order. We decided, to order everything at once, based off reviews that the wait is long. So we ordered our food, appetizer and drinks at the same time, along with asking for water. We never received water, nor utensils. 30min in, I had to ask the waitress if we could get water, and her response was “oh yeah”. It’s now 7:30, and we still never received the appetizers which were fried pickles. While still waiting for our drinks, it seemed to be a miscommunication from the waitress and bartenders. 7:50, the fried pickles arrived. 8:00, we still don’t have our drinks. We decided to just leave. Paid for the fried pickles and that’s it. As we are leaving, we decided to talk to the manager, think his name is Keith. He explain what he thought may have been the problem(short staff, maybe wrong waitress taking orders). He did ask how he could accommodate us . Even said money wasn’t the issue( but clearly it was, because that all changed) but he wanted to bring something to the community, and we even said we wanted to support our black business. So we sat back down, but at the bar instead. 8:10, we finally received our orders.. but still a wait for the drinks. At the end of the day… the atmosphere was nice, but the service was horrible. By it being only opened for a month, there has to be some changes. We were not the only customers who complained about the long wait for food and drink orders , considering it wasn’t even that...
Read moreCame for a party. Whoever prepared that catered mess should be ashamed. Charging ridiculous amounts for the whitest no ingredient, no taste potato salad ever, just diced potatoes and Mayonnaise. Burnt black so-called grilled wings. Dry spaghetti, dry turkey whatever, dry boiled rib tips sitting in a little grease sauce. Too hot links, at least they weren't dry, the fried wings were kinda hard. Charging $18.75 for a shot of Vodka & juice in a little plastic cup, was just outrageous. And you don't have to respond with "Don't come back." Because that's a guarantee. DO BETTER!
I knew there would be an unprofessional response from your business. No, I didn't come for free food. I came to celebrate a friends accomplishment. Instead of getting angry at the truth, take accountability and fix wants wrong. As a Black business owner you should want everyone patronizing your business to leave satisfied. Remember your customers are your business. Don't dismiss a negative review with indifference and snide remarks. See how you can improve what is negative. Take pride in the name on the sign outside, respect it. And respect the people who walk through your doors expecting good food, drinks and all your business offers. Premium quality, products and service should accompany premium pricing. People read reviews, and your comments following. If you take offense instead of listening and doing all you can to make sure your customers are satisfied. You are damaging your business and your name. It's disappointing in hind sight when you don't care about your Black customers. We spend a lot of money, and would prefer to spend it with our own people. We just want our dollars...
Read moreToday I went to visit this place to see my brother who was celebrating his birthday. Their security guards had the handicap parking blocked off with a cone. I kindly asked did they have any other handicap parking available as I have a valid handicap placard in which I showed security. They had me to ride around back as if parking was available. There wasn't any parking available not even handicap parking. I politely went back to the front to again explain that I had a handicap placard. The heavy set light skinned security guard instantly started shaking his head no. He said if you're handicap and can't walk you don't need to be here. So the heavy set security guard with buck teeth said"if he say you can't park here( in the handicap spot that had the orange cone) then you can't park here" he stated that someone who was in a wheelchair that had paid for the parking spot was on their way. This whole interaction was recorded by the person who was in the vehicle with me in case they want to lie about it. I'm filing a report because I was discriminated against and according to The American Disability Act that's illegal. Train your rent a cops or so called security whats the law. They want to be the police so bad and don't even have the authority to enforce anything. Their lack of knowledge against disabled people will land this business a law suit. If you're disabled and expect handicap parking space don't go here or next time call the police as I should have but thankfully we have video footage because I know they will deny this...
