I don't know where to start other than if you have a different view & opinion on life don't go here..! Here's how it went today.. I did some work near by and was in the mood for an adult beverage. I got a business call and while on the phone I saw their sign and I have a friend in another town who's bar has the same name.. So I went inside and looked around. I saw all the board games about a dozen pinball machines and I thought being a 20 year retired bar owner I might like to have a cold brew. I went up to the counter and handed the owner my card to create small talk before I ordered my cold draft, she walked backwards as I was telling her I have a friend with the same named bar she put my business card in the trash.. I was shocked to say the least.. I asked if she put it in the trash she said yes, I asked why and if she wasn't interested she could've handed it back.. As she went into the trash to hand it back she pointed said my shirt offended her. I looked at it and said really.? Are you that triggered over a shirt..? She said yes.. (On my left breast of my shirt it says Alligator Alcatraz..) As she walked away from me she waved at me and shood me away.. I've never been asked to leave a business before sober anyways.. Lol it was obvious she is only interested in customers with like minds and nothing else.. Obviously she's small minded & not interested in other people's money who think differently than her in her business.. Very sad, I could see myself having a drink or try some food once in a while here, not now... I like owner operator bars but not this one.. I actually give this place a -10 stars because of her being so triggered over a shirt and not wanting to know the person wearing the shirt.. Major missed...
Read moreFor sure my favorite drinking destination as of late. It has a TON of variety on tap (there are 16 taps) covering a wide range of interesting ciders and beers that you probably won't find on tap at the other bars and they're constantly being rotated with new stuff. Every time I go in there there's always something new to try (and something I'm sad to find out that they've run out of). You can also purchase bottles of some things too, and they even have a small wine selection.
But all that's just one perk.
Their main draw is just the fact that it's a laid back lowkey locale with great atmosphere and veritable mountains of games to play with friends while tipping back a pint. Social card games, classic card games, drinking games, classic board games, newer board games, role-playing games, party games, puzzle games, Mario kart 64, Pinball, Magic the Gathering, and even space outside in the courtyard to play a game of cornhole provided that it's not raining outside. If there's any game they don't have, feel free to bring one of your own.
Most bars I find myself struggling to keep engaged and drinking out of boredom, but at Ashley's Pub it's different. People go there to hangout and not just get wasted. It's actually fun. You can go solo, meet new people, and join their games. Or If you already have some friends meeting you there then all the better.
The only downside is that they don't have much of a food selection aside from some small snacks due to the limitations of their location. But that's easily remedied by the fact that there are actual restaurants & food venues within easy...
Read moreEntrance in the evening is from the courtyard on 4th St. 21+ only.
Once inside you will find a well lit, open pub with plenty of large tables for 1 to 10 of your friends to sit around and play a game from the pub's library of games. They also have a N64 and a moderate selection of games to choose from. The staff is knowledgable in many of the games if you find yourself unsure what to play or need a little assistance with the rules. Many of the regulars also are willing to help in setting up a game. You might find a game of Cornhole going on in the courtyard on nice days. They have 16 taps that are roatating of local beers and ciders. They also have 2 large reach in coolers for mead, beer, and ciders in the bottle or can for purchase. They have a small selection of snacks (chips, peanuts, etc) for purchase but if you want a full meal you may bring it in from other local establishments. This is a safe place and...
