NEW UPDATE ON REVIEW 9/2023 I wanted to update my review from 2019 and write out a lengthy review on it, good, bad, or indifferent, but I can't say anything wrong about The Curry. Recently, we had dinner there two Wednesdays in a row, and just as before, we were happy. The food was and still is as marvelous as before; I recommend The Curry to anyone wanting incredible Indian food!
Definitely try the Chili Chicken; it doesn't disappoint!
The owners are friendly, as prior. They updated or did a remodel of sorts since my last visit in 2019, although anytime I would get food from there, it was always pre-ordered, and I would run in and pick it up and leave, so I didn't pay full attention to details around the restaurant.
Lady's restroom was clean, odor odor-free.
I always preach this: eating here is a great way to support a locally-owned small business and get fantastic food! And don't forget, be kind to ALL living things! 🐾🌲
HAPPY FALL 2023!
6/18/2019 Recently we had take-out from "The Curry" as we often do, but this time we changed it up a bit by ordering the Traditional Curry, with a level three on spiciness. The traditional curry was savory and full of flavor with a little tiny bit of heat; this dish was simplistic but left us wanting more. The base has special spices, tomatoes, and onions, and I chose chicken as an add-in, along with that, we always order Veggie Samosa; honestly, you can't go wrong with either one. I can't forget the mint chutney, light on mint taste (for those who aren't mint fans) big on flavor, and totally my favorite! Their menu is full of yummy-sounding dishes and isn't overwhelming, but plenty of items to choose from. I believe The Curry is a family-owned business, nonetheless always friendly people, always great food - the inside of the restaurant looks fresh, clean, and visually appealing. Location is within walking distance of the ferry terminal, the Hampton Inn, coffee shops, and plenty of other little shops - Parking is challenging, especially with the construction going on across the street, but the food is yummy, and sometimes it is all about timing when finding parking. Other impressive items we have enjoyed from The Curry - Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan Bread! I recommend this restaurant to anyone, always great helping a...
Read moreMy favorite place in Bremerton, Indian or otherwise! Excellent flavor, superb quality, friendly and fast service. Large portions!
When this restaurant was recommended to me, I had my doubts. Typically, I feel like people have low standards and Im usually disappointed when I try a recommended restaurant. Much to my surprise this has become my new favorite place and I've been back four more times in as many weeks.
I've only had chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and kashmira naan, so far. However, it is so truly delicious that I've not even tried anything else yet. I just keep going back for more.
Flavor: excellent, well seasoned with spices and visible herbs. Freshness: way above average! Chicken is fresh, juicy white meat Spice: perfect! Scale is 1-5 and it is consistently applied. 1 is not very spicy, while a 5 is truly hot. Many other places, I can't get any consistency. It's either way too hot or not at all spicy. Not here. They've got this down!
The Kashmira naan is surprisingly great. It's naan stuffed with coconut & raisins. It's great with the rice & tikka masala or as a stand alone treat. So, so good! Highly recommended.
The one downfall, for me, is that the chicken is cubed (as is usually the case at other places too.) However, I strongly prefer shredded chicken for practicality and even distribution throughout the meal. I don't hold this against The Curry, but it is a downside for me. If not for this, The Curry would be in every way my ideal Indian Restaurant. Instead, I have to order takeout and manually shred all of the chicken before I arrange my plate. No big deal, it's still my favorite food...
Read moreWe tried The Curry out to see how it compared to our favorite Indian restaurant in Silverdale (Mehfil) because The Curry is much closer. We ordered all of the normal dishes that we’d get in Silverdale, to do a comparison. What a bummer (and for about $15 more). The Daal Makhani was bland versus in Silverdale, you fall out of your seat with the 1st bite. The garlic naan was really dry and a little tough versus in Silverdale, it’s buttery and soft. The buttered chicken lacked flavor. The paneer pasanda was aright but again, it lacked that “wow” that you get in the 1st bite up in Silverdale. The samosas were ok, kind of the level of what you’d expect if you bought them frozen at Costco. In Silverdale, their samosas are super flaky and taste fresh. The mulligatawny soup at The Curry was oily versus in Silverdale it’s more like a broth. And finally, the rice - it was plain rice which is okay but in Silverdale they take it one step further and it’s sort of like a multicolored rice that’s really light and fluffy versus sort of wet and heavy. We’re bummed to have spent the $80 here but now we know..it’s not for us. I’d have to highly recommend people head up to Silverdale to Mehfil if they’d like to have a “wow” experience with their food. Stronger flavors (not talking about spice level, just the overall flavors) and slightly more affordable. The same meal at Mehfil runs...
