Im a local Navy guy like most of the people that go here. I came out last night with 6 or so other sailors and ordered a few hundred dollars worth of food and drink collectively. After placing an order for my second drink with food for the table, I went back to the table and waited 10 or so minutes when i noticed the bartender must have forgot to make it, since they did bring the food. I checked back at the bar and asked politely if they were making it. The bartender lady aggressively started calling me a liar, claiming that she had given it to me in my hand and I was trying to gaslight a free drink out of her. I was appalled by this. She then ran over to the table where my party was sitting and confronted everyone there saying she gave me another drink where they also told her I never got it. I didn’t curse or make a big deal, I just emphasized that I was an honest person and with us spending hundreds of dollars I certainly wasn’t trying to get one over on her. She proceeded to call me a liar until my friend said he would let her put it on his tab so we could just drop it (she ended up still double charging us). I am someone who prior to joining the Navy bartended internationally in both NYC and the UK, and never have I accused a paying customer of being a liar when I simply could have made a mistake. This really rubbed me the wrong way truly, over something seemingly small -this servers unnecessary drama ultimately ruined my entire evening and night out. I recommend as someone again who’s been a bartender that if you can’t handle multiple orders at once and get easily aggravated by calm paying locals that maybe the service industry isn’t the best...
Read moreDate/time of visit: Tuesday, August 15th, around 12:45pm. On bicycle ride today and stopped in [dead-sober] before catching my ferry back to PO. Ordered a "Hornitos gold or silver shot, whatever you've got, chilled please" from the bartender. She cheerfully obliges. I think there was a "babe" or two thrown in from her. I was delivered a single shot in a rocks glass. Swallowed. Delicious. Handed card over and was returned a charged receipt for a double shot, around $17 and change. I patiently waited for a sec while she delt with others before chiming in that she had accidentally hit the 'double' button. (I've accidentally done the same thing before.) She replies with something along the lines of "didn't you order a double [babe]?" I reply no, and joke that it wasn't even a double, but it must be a 'Bremerton Double'. Ha ha ha. So at this point, I'm expecting a laugh and bartender banter about the heat and whatnot, and probably a half-refund or maybe perhaps another shot, but no...she just brushes it off and says something like "sorry [babe] and ends the interaction. We're done.
There's the objective part of the story as best as I can tell it.
Here's the subjective: She saw my bicycle outside the door and assumed I was a tourist mark and decided to take advantage. Plain and simple.
Conclusion: If you're gonna cheat your customers into buying a double, at least give them an f'n...
Read moreThis is the most comfortable bar in town. The drink selection is huge, and the house cocktails are both creative, and a good value. There's darts, pool, and (free!) ping-pong. The smoking area is well-shielded from the wind. The restrooms are clean and attractive, and the ladies' is tucked inside the kitchen, well-defended by staff. That's not even getting into the food, which was great when I started coming here and became excellent after the kitchen remodel. I especially like the sampler.
Any events here are sure to be great, as well. There's a dance floor, an excellent sound system with a knowledgeable tech running it, a decent wine selection, and the front wall opens on warm days. The exterior even has water misters to keep you cool.
South Pacific is the -only- bar that has been great every single time...
