Denny's — Restaurant in Brenham

We tried eating in, one time after we moved to Brenham. Once. It's a small place, and they try to make up for it by pushing tables together almost in communal benches and packing you in like sardines. If you don't mind not being able to have a private conversation, and having to ask strangers to move so you can use the restroom, and you aren't claustrophobic,.ok. But good luck getting service. There are a lot of workers doing...something...but almost nobody waiting tables. I promise that you will never see a coffee refill. There aren't a lot of breakfast options for eating out in Brenham, so we tried again with takeout. Ordered online, went to pick it up, 30 minutes after the order, and it's not ready. Hostess says something non-committal about checking on it, then nothing. No info, no eye contact. So I sit, and sit more, until it becomes apparent that they didn't start my order until after I arrived. I ask again 20 minutes after my arrival, and she says something about a mixup and how it shouldn't be more than 10 or 15 minutes more. Nobody bothered to say a word about it, including the manager who I found out later knew all about it. So I walked. There's an hour of my life I won't get back. I ordered via phone to come in and eat at the restaurant. I ordered an egg white omelet with cheddar cheese, bacon, and mushrooms. I am doing keto - so nothing but the omelet - and coffee - like I said to eat in the restaurant. The plan was to eat at up at the diner on the stool while reading the paper and drink a cup of coffee. To my surprise, there was no diner! I had never been in a Denny's with no diner to sally up to. So when I arrived, I told Gladys to take the coffee off the order and make it to go. Which she did. I put my iPhone in the bag with the Styrofoam container that the omelet was inside, so I could hold my newspaper in my other hand and when I got back to the office, I reached in the bag and there was so much grease that I actually could pour it out of the bag - probably half a cup! My iphone has an Otter case on it and it had seeped inside the case which is clear and I had to take off both the inside and outside case and disinfect them and the lightning port was not making contact with the charger. It was unbelievable how much grease was coming out of the styrofoam container. I was so sick to my stomach, I didn't even open the container - just threw the whole thing in...

3 items ordered were never received. "toast" was actually soft bread never toasted. Chocolate chips were not in the pancakes ordered. Server pretty much got the entire order wrong and the ENTIRE time we ate we did not have drinks. My husband finally stopped another server to ask for a cup of coffee but even then we never got a refill. Server was rude and said she was too busy to help us even though there were only 2 other tables she was helping. She even went as far to tell us and I quote "we are just too busy, you'll be lucky if you get your food by noon" It was 9am at this time...we almost walked out then and should have along with the THREE other tables that actually did. We were there for a total of 2 1/2 hours for breakfast. The manager was just as rude when we told him the issues with the server he did not say one word...not. one. word. he didn't even look at us and gave us $5 off our ticket which is fine, but at the very least he should have apologized for his server's actions. Never going back to this Denny's again unless it comes under new management. We usually love Denny's food and service but this location is in serious need of a revamp and...
