I don't visit Sonic as often as I’d like, partly because there's not one close to where I live. However, whenever I do, it’s always a great experience.
When I’m in town for work, I make a point to visit this Sonic because it’s conveniently located between my office and the hotel. It’s literally on my way, making it incredibly accessible.
Sonic is reminiscent of the classic car-hop experience, where you order from your car, and someone brings your food to you. While the roller skates are a thing of the past and the order boards are now high-tech, the nostalgic concept remains.
One of the most convenient aspects is the Sonic app. Ordering through the app is simple and intuitive, with the full menu and customization options at your fingertips. I also often encounter deals when ordering before 5 p.m., which offers some nice early-bird savings.
Typically, I place my order through the app before leaving the office. Once I arrive, I park in a stall, check in via the app, and provide the stall number. In just two or three minutes, a staff member (not on skates) brings the food directly to my car.
Out of all my visits, I’ve only had one issue. On that occasion, I ordered a Dr Pepper® and a customized cheeseburger. I didn’t check my drink before driving away, assuming, “What could go wrong?” But when I arrived at my hotel, I discovered the drink was some kind of cherry Coke or other nasty flavor. Without hesitation, I drove back to the restaurant, pulled into a stall, and explained the situation. They corrected the drink immediately, and I was on my way.
(There's a lesson in this: ALWAYS check your drink before you leave the drive-thru. I do it every single time I order a drink through drive-thru. Every drive-thr. Every time.)
Unfortunately, when I got to my hotel room, I realized the rest of the order was also incorrect. Not only was the burger not customized as I’d requested, but it was the completely wrong burger. Since it was raining and I didn’t want to go back, I decided to eat it anyway. I called the store to explain what had happened. The manager I spoke to was apologetic and processed a full refund for the order quickly and efficiently.
Despite this one hiccup, my overall experience has been excellent. The issue was handled promptly, and I’ve returned twice since with no problems at all.
I look forward to my next visit (more than likely tomorrow). The service is fast, the food is consistent, and there’s always something new to try...
Read more2 stars because the food still tasted good and I’m just a nice guy. I’m leaving this review only because it was so early and it took a few minutes for it to register with me that I was insulted.
Placed an order on my way into work and when I checked in (stall 24), the terminal didn't activate or display my name or order status like it does at every other Sonic. I waited patiently for the order to come out and even gave a few extra minutes beyond the expected time of 7:04 (order placed at 6:58) since I knew I was ordering lunch for breakfast. No big deal.
I finally pressed the button just to make sure they had received my order and knew I'd arrived. I wasn't rude or demanding, just let them know nothing showed up on my screen when I checked in and wanted to make sure they got my order. The person who answered wasn’t speaking loudly or clearly — or maybe the terminal itself was bad (common Sonic stuff). Anyway, I could barely understand him but I gave him my name to confirm.
At around 7:10, some little boy about 16 or 17 wearing a cap walks out to my car with my order and says something like "if you ordered a burger at 7 AM it's gonna be about a 6 minute wait" without realizing that we were well beyond 6 minutes. Not "thank you sir here's your food", not "sorry for your wait", just a lecture and bad attitude because he had to make something other than a burrito (I’m guessing). I've never been spoken to like that by a child. And again, I have no idea why it happened! I wasn't rude or ugly, just making sure they actually knew I was there!
Then I got to the office and my chili cheese tots were dumped out in the bottom of my bag bc they were obviously thrown in with anger. Sorry for spending money at your establishment with the expectation that you will deliver on the implicit promise you make by offering items on your menu. Everything is in...
Read moreI’ve been going to sonic the last 10 years. It went from a 2-3 times a week thing to an every day thing. I absolutely love sonic and their half price drinks on the app all day. I usually get a Soda but tonight me and my family went to sonic for ice cream and slushies. We ordered 3 different milk shakes a Route 44 slush and 2 ice cream cones. I noticed the entire staff was high school kids which isn’t a bad thing as long as they know what they are doing… We received our order and the only thing that was correct was the milk shakes. They gave us a large instead of route 44 and didn’t even bring out the cones. I checked my receipt to make sure we ordered correctly. We did. So we buzzed the speaker and explained the issue which ended with, “well we are out of route 44’s” I asked for another large slushy and the two cones. She responded with, “well we will take the charge off for the route 44” which is not what I asked for. Just wanted another large slushy and my two cones. They brought it out and didn’t even apologize for the mess up. Come on sonic. Train your staff better. Covid is no longer an...
