In between both of our visits to the Doctor, squeezed in a quick lunch.
Before my appointment, while still at home came across a post on Saturn Pizza at 592 Rte. 70 in the Conoco Gas Mini Mart on the corner of Route 70 & Cedar ridge Avenue, Brick.
I've been driving past this place for the past 6 months and had planned to stop in to experience some Gas Station Pizza.
As this mornings poster implied it was pretty good.
Now it doesn't compare to the likes of the higher end and over priced places, but it was pretty good.
The crust is preformed and baked, the size is 12 inch's, the thickness is definitely thin crust.
Again, we all have pizza snobs in our list of friends, family and casual acquaintance who will bad mouth anything that is not fresh rolled dough.
Well the taste and texture was pleasing, better than those cracker, flaky and thin offerings by Carmen's Pizzeria at Pete's and Elda's plus a few other's.
The ingredients are fresh, good quality with a pleasant taste experience.
It was also quick, they are using electric ovens with 600 degree temperatures and depending on the type of pizza, it takes 8 - 10 minutes for a piping hot, burn the roof of your mouth.
Now the outside ring of crust is charred and may appear burnt, but the rest of the undercarriage was nicely marbled.
We ordered the "Earthling Pie", which is your typical cheese and sauce pie!!!
This is what Kit likes.
The other Pizza was the"Uranus" and it has, red sauce, red onion, fresh garlic, jalapenos and mozzarella.
I love my jalapenos and for taste, I was very pleased.
Finally, I know that everyone has different tastes and likes, so I will leave it up to the individual to make their own decisions.
For me, it was a worthwhile visit and lunch experience.
When we were paying our bill, the Pizziola asked how was the pizza. We informed him that we liked it, asked if they could adapt the cooking times down a little for those who might not enjoy char.
He was very receptive...

First things first, yes - this pizza shop is located in what used to be the mini-mart of the Conoco gas station. However, do not be fooled by the location, because what we have here is an absolutely amazing new pizza place that specializes in amazingly crispy, charred-edge crust, with some of the most creative pizzas I've seen around. Not "gas station pizza", in the slightest! Style-wise, I believe this is a "St. Louis" style pizza crust, and is indeed cut in the same fashion as those, though I could be wrong. For something more local, think "Pete & Elda's", only more gourmet.
The first pies I tried were the "Earthling" (plain) and "Moon" (white with goat cheese, mushroom, sausage, fresh garlic, and balsamic reduction drizzle). Let me tell you, I don't think either pizza lasted more than 10 minutes before being gobbled up by everyone. We're hopelessly addicted, now. I didn't last 2 days before running back to try more. The "Venus" pie with pesto was seriously "out of this world", and the Mars meat-lover's pie was among the best Ive had of that style, anywhere.
Prices are affordable, especially considering the crazy amount of flavor / overall quality, and the staff are wonderful people who care about their food. An absolute must-try for anybody who enjoys pizza, especially thin crust!
Edit: Updating this review and sadly dropping the stars a bit. The food is tasty, but $17-20 for a "bar pie" is pretty expensive for a takeout place, if you ask me. I want to go back, but it's hard to justify these prices when you can get a much larger pizza elsewhere for cheaper, and feeds more folks. Hopefully they drop the prices a little, or add better deals to make it...
Read moreThis is the first time I have seen this place open since I came South about a year ago. I heard all the stories good & bad but never had the chance. I saw that it was open two days ago so I had to check it out. The staff is very friendly, helpful & having fun. They have a little ice cream bar & Sunday type thing along with hot dogs, candy & old school drinks. But the pizza I had to try it before I got myself a pie and glad I did. The slice was great. The Jersey Tomato Pie was spot on. It’s thin as many said. It’s got alot of flavor with the quality I was not expecting. It’s better than Costco, Wawa, Dominos, Papa John and the other chain stores. It’s also better than a few actual pizzerias that you would expect more from . So with that said, this GEM of a pizza joint literally inside a garage bays of a gas station converted into a pizza place, ice cream & hot dogs (dirty water dog, fried or rolled) etc is for real. I didn’t get a chance to try the hot dogs but I will. Looks from the outside can be a little deceiving because of the Conoco gas station but the food was & is good. Seriously a 16” pie for $10, you can’t go wrong and you don’t have to sacrifice anything. They don’t deliver but I’m sure that one of those delivery apps will. It’s so worth it folks. Inside is clean, updated...
