This rating doesn't include the actual location or the service. The office ordered pizza for a debriefing, So I'm only going to rate the pizzas and the salad. We ordered a plain cheese, a sausage and onion, a mushroom, a pepperoni, a spinach, and a casino pizza. We also got some kind of house salad. I have to give the pizza a 3.5. It was just alright to me. I told my coworkers that the cheese was stiff, particularly on the clams casino and they agreed. I've had better clams casino at Pepe's, Massimo's, and Sergio's - just to name a few. I know that the place has been around for a long time and from what it looks and sounds like, they either cater to a particular part of the North end of Bridgeport or they only cater to a particular crowd that kind of separates themselves from the majority of the city. Maybe the social aspect of the place has kept them alive. I say that because the other pizzas were just aight as well. I can legitimately say that Papa John's has a better overall taste than Mario the Baker. Pizza House on Howe St in New Haven, Famous down Park Ave in Bridgeport, Brick Oven, and even Captains tastes way better if you want to know what I'm comparing this too. I was impressed with their salad, however, which I'd give 4.5 stars because they loaded it with artichoke, roasted red peppers,...
Read moreOk so I don’t frequently leave 5 star reviews but let me tell you why I did..I ordered a pizza from my favorite local restaurant (obviously Mario) to be delivered. Usually we have dinner at the restaurant but it was a rough day and I just wanted my favorite food the easiest way possible. I ordered through Mario’s preferred method. I received my delivery and unfortunately it was not what I ordered. I reached out about this and was told they’d deliver he correct item. Let me tell you..30 minutes later I received a delivery from them, not a 3rd party vendor, the actual staff member to make the situation right. Listen..I would have been fine if it was a random delivery person, I just wanted my comfort pizza, but wow…that’s crazy good customer service. The food is ALWAYS good..but if you are on the fence, just know that they treat...
Read moreWe dined at Mario the Baker this evening, Saturday, July 30th and had an excellent experience. Here's why! Our server was friendly and attentive, and brought out fresh, house made bread that was absolutely delicious! Warm, crusty exterior and soft, flavorful interior, we enjoyed it very much! I order one of tonight's specials, their Lobster ravioli in a sundried tomato and pepper cream sauce, which was perfect! The sauce was key, served with asparagus and a very large portion! Hubby had their swordfish and a side of angel hair - both large portions and very satisfying! The colors are soft taupe, rose and peach for a relaxed casual, yet elegant atmosphere, the booth was roomy and comfortable! We'll be back! Highly...
