Last night was the second time I had visited Quito's and it might as well been my last visit. From the moment we arrive the service was sup-par, from the bartender taking 10 minutes to acknowledge us to the waiter forgetting our order. One of the guest in our 5 person party ordered the steak, which the waiter responded with "I believe we are out of it, but if we do have it how would you like it?" Our guest responded with Medium Well, after 10 - 15 minutes had past the waiter stop by to bring us some drinks so we asked if they had steak or if we had to order something else, the look on his face said it all - he forgot to check. About 45-50 minutes later we still had not received our order, but the tables around us were getting there food, we asked another waitress to get our waiter. He came over to our table and told us that our food was being plated, and came back a few minutes later with some of the food. As soon as I seen the steak, I could tell it was under cooked. Not only was it under cooked it was downright cold, some our guest ordered meals that came with fries which were stale. In my opinion I feel the waiter either forgot to place our order or forgot to grab once it was done. We asked if the manager was around and his response was yeah she is right over there, so we asked to speak to her which took another 5 minutes, by this point pretty much everyone in the party had lost their appetite. As soon as the manager came over she was already on the defensive. She went to get a picture of when the orders were placed to try make it look as we had just put in our orders and hadn’t waited an hour. She would not let one of guest speak and kept talking over him. At one point her response was what do you want me to do? Her customer services skills were horrible. We asked for our bill and left food there, but before anybody says anything we did leave the waiter his 20% tip, even though the service wasn’t good. Now mind you this was between the hours of 8-9 PM and the place wasn’t busy at all, this could have been an isolated incident, but they lost my business. Our whole party works is in the customer service field in some shape of form, and the way the situation was handle was so wrong. Thank god we found Bar 31 nearby their customer service skills were great. Let’s see how our combined 10k followers on Social Media responded to...
Read moreExcellent service (thank you Michaela/Tequila!) Excellent quality. Outstanding preparation. Huge portions. My husband is a well-respected Boston chef, I'm a foodie, and our two almost-adult kids are tough to impress. We're "wicked new" to Bristol, so when it was my son's birthday we had to Google "best lobster dinners in Bristol" to find a restaurant. He's a laid back, lobster-holic kinda guy so the photos of Quito's, their menu, and other reviews convinced us to give it a go.
We had one of the finest seafood dinners we have EVER enjoyed. The place was packed by 6:30 PM, so we asked the hostess to seat us inside or out -- whichever opened up first -- and we were seated inside in less than 10 minutes. We were comfortable and as soon as the food started coming we were in heaven. The view from the outdoor dining area is wonderful, but we didn't even miss it -- the food was that good. After dinner we strolled along the shore (Quito's is right next to Independence Park), took pictures, and enjoyed the panoramic views of Bristol's beautiful harbor. Perfect.
Michaela, our server, was up-beat, all about getting it right, and even laughed at my husband's jokes. Our food arrived promptly -- but not too soon -- and it had clearly not been waiting under a hot light or sitting around waiting to be served. We had the swordfish (prepared perfectly), lobster tails (ample and succulent), seafood casserole (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 15), lobster roll (another "15") and assorted apps that were all excellent. Even the sides were delicious -- the smashed potatoes and the broccoli were so good.
We naturally looked around the dining room at other orders as we tried to decide for ourselves, and we were flabbergasted at the size of the portions. The table next to us ordered several of the fried platters and they were ENORMOUS -- the platters, that is -- our fellow diners seemed to enjoy their meals as much as we did.
Reservations are only taken for parties of 8 or more, but if you arrive before 6:30 you won't have a huge wait. Of course, Fridays and Saturdays are very busy, but we went on a Thursday and while it was bustling, we didn't feel like cattle. We will be back as often...
Read moreOk, let's start off with my server Lauren. She was at my table immediately after I was sat, got my drink right away. I knew I wanted the lobster roll, I was undecided on what soup or chower to get.. As she returned with my drink, I said which one.... she chimed in right away... lobster bisque... you want a bowl... if you get a cup you will want another.. Just get the bowl... I listened to Lauren and shortly there after, the ridiculous bowl of meat shows up with a light, very flavorful bisque type broth covering the insane amount of lobster meat... a hint of sherry perhaps? Bar none, no other bisque has ever come close to this quality as well as quantity of lobster.... not just random pieces, full claw meat chunks... insanity I tell you. I also ordered the lobster roll with the mayo. The roll is dwarfed and almost hidden by the illegal amount of lobster covering it, stuffed inside it, next to it... with a very very light mayo coating... perfect!!!! If i had a second empty roll, I could have made a second giant roll with the amount of lobster claw meat from the original roll. The lobster was firm and crisp in both the bisque as well as the roll.. not limp , not soggy... I believe that the meat in my roll and bisque was living a happy life in the bay until I ordered it... that's how fresh this meal was!!!!! I can't say enough about the service from Lauren as well as the obscene quantity and quality of lobster that I just consumed. It wasn't cheap, BUT it was absolutely worth the money I paid no question. Thank you my friends for an...
