I will start this review by saying that the Poke here is good - to the point that we are frequent customers (about twice a month) - but after our encounter today, that will no longer be the case. At 10am my family and I, our dog included, went to the Jamba Juice right next door. It’s a beautiful day out so we decide to sit outside and eat/drink our Jamba Juice there instead of taking it home. We sit down at a table that is closest to the Jamba Juice door, however there is a sign on the table that says “Table is for PokeWorks customers only.” I double check the opening time on the door for PokeWorks (10:45am) to confirm we are not intruding. Within 2 minutes of sitting down, a female employee of PokeWorks comes outside to tell us that we cannot sit there and that no dogs are allowed. While yes, we saw the sign that said “table is for PokeWorks customers only,” nowhere does it say “no dogs”. Additionally, if they aren’t even open yet (at this point they don’t open for another 35ish minutes) and we are not taking the place of a paying PokeWorks customers, why is it even an issue?! We defended our stance and her responses continued to be unfriendly and condescending, again with “it says it right there” as she points to the sign on the table. Honestly, the best response in this situation would have been along the lines of “hey guys! Feel free to enjoy your JJ, but we open in about 35 minutes if you could try to leave that table open for customers once we do.” Totally understandable. But that’s not what happened unfortunately. You’d think, especially coming out of a pandemic and the volatility restaurants specifically are experiencing, that she would have been friendly and this could have gone a lot differently. Super unfortunate. I know if the owner was there, this would not have gone down the way it did.
**EDIT: The owner, Andy, gave us a call back and salvaged the situation. We very much appreciate his customer service and will be looking to interact with him in the future when we go...
Read moreWent in tonight to try a new poke place. Was very hopeful and excited as not a lot of places offer cauliflower rice as an alternative! Definitely not our new place. Not a very good first impression. My friend started her order with a cauliflower base, I then asked for the same for the girl to tell me “oh sorry that was the last of the cauliflower rice.” No offer for me to wait while they got more. Just sorry no more. While I was eating my salad bowl (as the only other friendly option for me was mixed greens) I then watched them bring a bag out, fill the pot, and put some into a plastic container to microwave to get ready faster for an online order that must have ordered it. If they would have offered for me to wait, I would have. My friend then asked for shredded cabbage in her bowl to which the girl responded “ok” while she proceeded to add shredded kale. We both ordered avocado. My friends bowl received two scoops. I received one. $1.50 for an approximate one ounce portion of avocado seems a little steep. I know most places up charge for it, I get it… but at least be consistent, you can’t give over two ounces to one bowl and one ounce to the next and charge the same. Overall just a very disappointing experience, would definitely not return based off of this experience. I just hope for other people’s sake this is...
Read moreI first had poké in San Diego back in 2014. I've been hooked since then. As most things in Wisconsin, it took a long time for the poké wave to hit here. As such, I've had to either make at home myself or just wait until I'm in California or New York.
Poké has been in Wisconsin for a couple years now, but nobody has really impressed me with their cuisine except One Kine Grindz in Tosa but they're more authentic and not at all like the poke places that have popped up all over.
Pokéworks opened near my office about two months ago. I literally did a fist pump when they opened followed by a quick prayer hoping they'd be better than Fresh Fin, Aloha, etc.
They have not disappointed. I've been here probably three dozens times since they opened and every meal has been great. The owner is always there manning the fort; the staff is great, the food is the best in the area. I'm a happy, poké filled camper.
Thanks Pokéworks for all the...
