As a former employee and frequent customer of Raising Cane’s, I’m deeply disappointed by the persistent decline in service, food quality, and most importantly — the unethical treatment of staff at this location.
Since opening, this store has been a revolving door of poor leadership, undertrained staff, and constant turnover. I was part of the opening crew, and what I’ve witnessed since then is unacceptable.
Let me be specific: • Wage Theft: Employees are frequently paid incorrectly or shorted hours on their checks, leaving them scrambling to pay rent — with no accountability or urgency from management. • Toxic Leadership: Upper management, including MATT, is known for prioritizing numbers over people. Morale is low, communication is poor, and staff are expected to work under pressure with no support. • Sexual Misconduct Covered Up: A male manager with multiple allegations of sexual harassment — including towards minors — was not fired, but simply moved around from store to store. Staff at the 76th Street location have confirmed this isn’t the first time it’s happened. Instead of protecting employees, Raising Cane’s protected the manager. When things got too hot, he was quietly transferred again. • Inappropriate Workplace Behavior: Some managers conduct “private meetings” with female employees in freezers or enclosed offices — under the guise of store business. Meanwhile, other employees are punished for leaving their stations. But when certain male managers pull women off the floor for unclear or unprofessional reasons, it’s ignored. The double standards and power dynamics are disturbing. (Yes, I used air quotes.) • Favoritism, Not Nepotism: While not all management is abusive, there are certain managers who consistently give special treatment to specific employees — to the point they’ve had to be reprimanded internally. Playing favorites ruins team morale and creates a hostile environment for everyone else. • Declining Product Quality: Orders are often incorrect, undercooked, or just carelessly made. The only time things are done properly is when customers get loud or confrontational — which says everything.
If this is the standard Raising Cane’s accepts up north, I’d rather keep driving to Kenosha or Chicago. This store has ruined the Cane’s experience for both staff and customers.
I have messages, records, and receipts from former and current employees to back up every word. This is not personal — it’s a pattern, and Cane’s corporate has been made aware. Still, nothing has changed.

Read moreI’ve survived two attempts at Raising Cane’s in Brookfield, and both felt like being trapped in a bad dream.
Picture this: I enter the dual-lane drive-thru, full of hope, only to realize it’s a cleverly designed trap. Cars creep forward at the speed of erosion, one vehicle every 10 minutes. I sit at the speaker, waiting for a voice that never comes, like a desert wanderer begging for water.
Nothing. Silence. Wasted time ticking away.
The dual lanes, instead of creating speed, function like a cruel joke. Two funnels bottlenecking into chaos, overseen by a management team that seems to have abandoned ship. Twenty five minutes later, still no order taken, no food in sight. This isn’t fast food. It’s captivity.
But like every great escape story, there was a turning point. I abandoned my place in line, cut my losses, and sought refuge elsewhere. Where did I find it? Culver’s. Glorious, efficient, merciful Culver’s. Within minutes, I had food in my hands, prepared with care, delivered by staff who understood that customers deserve more than empty promises and idling engines.
To Cane’s management: This is not a staffing issue alone. This is a management and process failure. If corporate wants this location to survive long-term, they need to: Train managers to actively monitor the drive-thru flow during peak times instead of letting cars stack up helplessly. Rework the dual-lane system so both are actually being utilized properly. Right now, it feels like a gimmick with no execution. Add a dedicated order-taking staff member during rushes instead of stretching one overwhelmed worker across two lanes. Implement real-time accountability, where leadership tracks wait times and intervenes before customers waste half an hour and drive away. Consider a “pull-forward” system or mobile ordering priority to keep cars moving rather than creating a parking lot around the restaurant.
For now, Cane’s is where time goes to die. Culver’s is where hope...
Read moreSo the online ordering process was fine. I ordered about 4 days in advance and prepaid. I scheduled pick up for 4:45 pm to take to my sons game for the team. I arrived at 4:30 was told it was not ready yet. No worries after a few minutes a young woman said I think that is yours on the shelf over there. It seemed warm but not hot. I also ordered waters, I was told that they didn't have enough waters. Ok... so they gave me gallon containers that they filled from the soda machine through a funnel instead. I asked did I have cups-Yes. Napkins-Yes. Extra sauces that I paid for- Yes. Got to the game. Relying on the staff. It was cold, the texture was anything but crispy, no cups, five napkins, no ketchup, and no extra sauces. Also not happy that I paid for 20 bottled waters almost a week ago, and had nasty gallon jugs for the team instead. Such a let down.
