"0" stars wasn't an option for reviewing this restaurant...but it needs to be. We work in a large office on the border of Wauwatosa and Brookfield and went to the new Chubby's Cheesesteaks today. When we walked in, we were immediately repulsed by a terrible smell which hit us as soon as the door opened. Ordering, we were told that "Lunch Specials" are only available on certain days, but don't worry about that, because after this next part, you won't ever choose to eat there. While waiting for our food, we realized one of the contributing factors to the previously mentioned odor: a young man (still in his pajamas at noon) with his infant child who had clearly soiled him/herself, which is forgivable. The unforgivable part is that, while we awaited our food, the young man in question went behind the service counter and into the kitchen, returned the bottle of ketchup he was using to the men working making our sandwiches, and acknowledged a few of them with fist-bumps... while they were wearing their gloves. The hands which were tending to an infant with a soiled diaper handled a bottle of ketchup which was then used by the staff to make the food which they handle and give to you. Am I a germophobe? No. Do I expect my $10 sandwich to be handled in a sanitary manner? You bet. Don't go there: we members of a large company on the 124th Street Wauwatosa/Brookfield border...
Read moreI ordered a burger and the supreme nachos. The burger meat didn't smell or taste like real beef. It had to have been processed or something because when I picked it up it fell into multiple pieces. It could have at least had good flavor but not even that. The nachos were good but they used very little cheese and condiments. This is my second time trying this place. It was terrible the first time but I thought it was just a bad night or they were rushing but that isn't the case. The first time I ordered a philly cheese steak, a burger for my girlfriend, and a perch dinner. The burger was the same as I had today, the philly tasted like they crumbled up the hamburger meat and put it in the bread (there was no cheese on it btw), and the perch dinner was burned and tasted like processed fish. I haven't tried any of the chicken, shrimp, or breakfast items so maybe they are good but idk. Hopefully the owner reads this and gets different brand or higher quality "angus" because this is unacceptable. It's supposed to be angus beef but I have had angus beef at multiple different restaraumts and it has never tasted or had the texture as at chubbys. Bottom line if they make it with "angus" don't order it. And bring your...
Read moreWe have been loyal customers of Chubby’s for a while, mainly because it’s close to home. However, after our experience tonight, we are officially done with them for good. Our total was around $45. We ordered a hamburger, a side of mushrooms, two pancakes, and a cod dinner. Unfortunately, the fish was the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had from them. It consisted of just a handful of fries and two pieces of cod that were so overcooked they were practically burnt. I ended up throwing it in the trash!
This wasn’t even a one-off mistake. The last two times we ordered, the food tasted like it was cooked in oil that hadn’t been changed in who knows how long. That old, rancid flavor is unmistakable, and once you notice it, it’s all you can taste. I gave them the benefit of the doubt before, thinking maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen, but clearly this is their standard now.
Food prices are too high, and times are too hard, for businesses to be serving up this kind of slop and thinking it’s okay. We work too hard for our money to spend it on food that is not only disappointing but borderline inedible. This was my last straw with Chubby’s and I’ll take my business elsewhere where quality and care...
