I usually give new places a second chance, but it will be a while until I see some other positive reviews. Stopped by today to order a sandwich to go…place is cute, staff was friendly…but it was sparse in the cafe. My croque monsieur sandwich left a lot to be desired. First, the sandwich was cold, although appeared that it would be warm with first glance in the to-go box with melted cheese on top. I’m used to a croque monsieur that you eat with a fork & knife due to the melted cheese and béchamel sauce-not here or at least not on this one. This had 2 thin slices of deli ham between 2 pieces of stale bread that crumbled when I picked it up. Oh and it did have a sprinkle of Gruyère cheese crumbled on top of the ham that was not melted. That’s it. My side of choice was the side salad—Far stretch to call it a salad. It was about 6 pieces of lettuce with 6-8 tiny pieces of chopped tomato on top. The balsamic vinegar dressing was on the side and decent. I hate being ugly but when you pay $17 for a sandwich (plus tax and tip=$21+), it better be delicious. They have lots of room to improve, in my opinion. Hope others have a...
Read moreI adore Cafe Vendome. Quality and purity in ingredients is very important to me and Cafe Vendome has stellar integrity with their food standards. They bake their bread and pastries fresh everyday. There are no nasty seed oils or cancer causing preservatives in their baked goods. This is SO rare to find. Most all baked goods from Publix, local bakery's, and even Whole Foods have nasty ingredients in them such as bromated and bleached flour, BHT, GMO,s, etc... The owner believes in clean eating, good health, and his food reflects exactly the way he wants to eat. He won't serve people what he will not consume himself. The food their is really good. They serve organic coffee and teas and recently added authentic Italian Gelato. I can't say enough good things about Cafe Vendome and I hope everyone will support this wonderful small business. I'm so happy they are now...
Read moreDecent coffee drinks but the food is terrible unfortunately.
Was really looking forward to a decent cafe/coffee shop in Brookhaven and the coffee is decent (I'd say 6/10 if you factor in cost).
The food is abysmal though, we've had it a few times since they opened. Once I bought an Almond Croissant and it was so stale you could not cut it with a knife, I had to rip into it aggressively with my teeth to actually make progress on it.
The second time we ordered the Croque Madame (for $17) and it was a premade frozen dish that wasn't heated up properly in their oven / microwave, the cheese wasn't even fully melted and the ham was cold on the inside.
If this was $5 -$6 at a gas station I wouldn't complain, but $17 + tip, that was egregious.
Hoping they'll improve over time but until then, if someone opens a legit, good cafe in Brookhaven, they will...
