Beware. The website advertising does not match what we saw in our brief visit at MODish. 2 ladies from New Orleans in town for medical seminar and wanted an upscale, sophisticated dinner. The website stated “ Atlanta’s Premiere Restaurant and Bar”, “modern, sophisticated, elegance, poised dining”. The menu sounded pricey but very promising. I was a little confused when the website opened with a 10 point dress code, 21+ age guideline, 2 hour seating limit and 20% gratuity. But I assumed this was a high demand restaurant. I was surprised when I went to Reservations and was asked to pay a $50 deposit and $25/ person charge if reservation is missed. Maybe there was a regional language barrier, but in New Orleans a dress code is usually added for the tourists. We are accustomed to pricey menus because there are many James Beard award winning chefs and restaurants in New Orleans. But, we have never been asked to pay a reservation fee or been threatened with a surcharge for cancelling. So when the Uber driver took us to an older strip mall we were confused. We were more confused when we saw the plastic sun shade material on the windows. There were 2 women walking towards the entrance ahead of us and that’s when I REALLY got confused. They were wearing sheer black panty hose with a thin strip of fabric covering their butt cracks and sexy revealing tops and six inch heels. We followed them in to the venue and after a quick look around at a room with no other customers at 630 and people smoking hookah, we realized this was NOT the upscale relaxing dinner venue we were anticipating and left. Since we didn’t stay long I can’t say for sure but I think they targeted the wrong out of town demographic with their website. To better reach the target market, I would suggest changing the headline to Atlanta’s Premiere Hookah lounge/bar/club/music venue with great food. This way they would avoid having out of town people who just want a good meal wandering in because they didn’t know how to “read...
Read moreI booked a party here for my lil sisters 30th and everyone was very helpful from start to finish! Even before we stepped foot in the establishment! They were super clear and super accommodating! My sister the birthday girl never comes out the house and she felt super comfortable the whole night which was our main goal! We had a pretty big party so we had 2 waitresses the one waitress acted as if we were bothering her or in her way… was not a fan of her energy at all especially since we are a family that tips pretty well… we felt rushed but our other waitress GiGi made up for the other waitresses lack of energy…. GiGi was very personable and understanding! She dealt with my crazy family like she was in the family! She had an amazing personality and great customer service! She made sure all of the birthdays girls wishes were met including helping us get together to take a group pic! The manager Ruth was very VISIBLE and personable as well which is not normal for other establishments we’ve visited… she checked on us several times and even made sure to tell us good bye when it was time to leave! They brought out the bottles and cake with enthusiasm unlike other places where they just stand there and hold the sparklers! The girls that brought it out looked like they were having fun! Which made our experience that much better! I’ll be back for date night for sure with just me and...
Read moreWe went here last night for a birthday dinner. Unfortunately, this restaurant failed to meet our expectations. The atmosphere was nice and the music selection was great all night. However, our server, who never even gave us her name, was more interested in smoking hookah behind the bar than serving guests. Truly, not worth the 20% auto gratuity imposed upon every table regardless of party size.
For appetizers, many of the food items were bland and lacking any depth of flavor. We ordered the oxtail egg rolls which were good once you dipped them in the oxtail gravy but not without it. For entrées, we ordered the herb crusted lamb chops and braised Jamaican oxtails. The lamb chops themselves were excellent, however, the mac & cheese and smoked turkey collard greens were definitely lacking flavor. Even the house made au jus tasted like nothing. The oxtails were great as well, but again, the sides were subpar. The cabbage has absolutely no flavor and tasted like crunchy water and the rice & peas were extremely dry.
In short, this restaurant is priced as though they're an upscale establishment when that's for from the truth. My advice, save your money and go somewhere else. It's definitely...
