Willy’s - A local Mexicana Grill staple.
There are several Willy’s in the area and this is the one we visit.
I moved into the Druid Hills area about 10 years ago and this strip mall showed up north of Druid Hills and Briarcliff. The parking lot is barely adequate and can be tough to get into and out of so be patient. Willy’s is on the northern end of the mall and has an outside dining area that has about 6 tables.
The inside dining room is above average size for the drop in Mexicana food chains, there is a section of booths that may hold about 40 people and multiple sections of tables inside that would contain another 40 people probably. The seating outside also has umbrellas for shade.
My family has been to this location many times and the staff has always been kind, patient, and attentive to our needs. Our orders have always been accurate and prepared as we desired.
The ingredients have always been fresh and tasty as if they were prepared at the store.
The wife likes the steak Frito’s burrito and oddly doesn’t like hot sauce inside, but wants the Diablo sauce from the salsa bar. Scary stuff.
My child get the Kid’s veggie burrito and typically devours it in addition to ploughing through his chips and cheese.
I vary between the nacho chips with real melted cheese and a chicken burrito.
Everything we’ve had has always been tasty and filling.
The wife and I do not give 5 star reviews, ever. In order to get a 5 star review a place has to deliver some service that places them well above their peers.
This Willy’s location is such a place. The staff at this place has been kind enough to participate in volunteer community development efforts with the Boy Scouts of America. Willy’s corporate in Atlanta participates in the Cub Scout Camp Cards program by offering a 10% discount off your order every time you present your reusable camp card for the whole year. 10% off Willy’s!?
This location at Druid Hills and Briarcliff has also allowed Cub Scouts to come to the outside dining area and offer these cards to patrons and passers by.
This superior contribution to our community, superior Mexicana, and superior customer service inside. 5 stars well earned.
If someone asked me where to get a Burrito around here, Willy’s...
Read moreWilly's has really gone downhill recently. Several times I've had to wait for someone to come out from the back to take my order, even after they clearly saw me waiting, but went about their business behind the curtain. They are usually very friendly, but some of them don't really understand English, so I have to repeat my order at every step of them fulfilling it. And as you can see from the picture, not everything is, um, appetizing. I usually get the steak, but lately it's been so filled with unchewable gristle, that I end up throwing about 1/4 of it away. The chipotle salsa is still the best, but it's also out at the bar sometimes. I won't be back unless they...
Read moreWilly's is already a better chain than competitors like Moe's and Chipotle, and this location is especially great. The staff are almost as friendly as the Chick-Fil-A across the street, and that's saying something! Many Willy's locations rely on premade, packaged tortillas for their dishes, but this one makes them fresh in store, and you can even see them being made at the beginning of the ordering line.
Like all Willy's, the quality of the ingredients is surprisingly good given its fast casual nature, and they offer an interesting selection of lemonades, including prickly pear and mango, that you can't get at any of...
