Went on opening day to Cherry Cricket in Broomfield. Was quickly greeted when I went inside and was told it’d be a 30-40 minute wait. I inquired about sitting at the bar, and fortunately for me there was one seat left at the end so I squeezed into it. After about five or so minutes I was greeted by Wade, one of the four bartenders. He took my drink order and I perused the menu before deciding on a cricket burger with pepper jack cheese, bacon jam, and bacon. Added a side of fries and said I’d like my burger cooked medium.
After an approximate 25 minute wait (and another adult beverage) my burger and fries arrived. I bit into my burger, and, well, you can see for yourself. It was warm, so I didn’t think much of it. That would come back to haunt me later.
I also decided on their dessert of the day, but none of the bartenders knew what it was. That sort of shocked me, given it was opening day. Figured they’d have that knowledge readily available. Not a huge deal. I was told it was cheesecake so I ordered a slice.
My total (before tip) was $45. Not exactly cheap. Here’s the breakdown:
1/2 cricket burger - $11.50 Cheese - $1.50 Bacon jam - $2 Bacon - $4 Fries - $4 Blue Moon - $7 (each) Cheesecake - $8
Service overall was decent. Lots of bartenders at the bar but it seemed like they were doing a lot of waiting. Maybe just overstaffed that first day. They were all friendly.
I do believe my burger was undercooked as I did have a not-so-great stomach ache the rest of the evening. But, maybe I just over-indulged. You can look at the picture and decide for yourself.
I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon. $45 is just too much when I can go down the street to a local bar and restaurant and get the same meal for nearly half the price.
If you want a custom, gourmet burger and don’t baulk at the costs, then swing by. They do have a happy hour (2-5p and 10-close) but that is nothing my day job allows for me to get to.
TL;DR - long wait for food, undercooked burger, friendly staff, expensive versus...
Read moreWaste of money tonight in the new Broomfield location. We had enjoyed dinner at the Cherry Creek location. Broomfield … Startup pains with no management in sight.
Summary - cold table, order messed up, slow service, cold and overcooked food.
Our Forgettable experience started after a reasonable 20-25 min wait getting seated by the door …which was open though chilly outside. Seated around 7 pm. After ordering, got cold so front desk helped us move away from the door. (Temp was 64 at 8pm when we left). When we received our food, the first time, they brought a tray which didn’t match our order. Little while later, confused server came and as we talked discovered he pushed the wrong button on our order and ordered a hamburger plate w/ no bun. Didn’t know that was my plate or I would’ve kept it. They came back a Little later and dropped off my wife’s order and our fries. They said they were remaking my order and it’d be right out. So I ate the fries … were lukewarm and asked them for new fries which came pretty quick. … waited for my burger … and waited … even after my wife finished her meal. Took a long time to get my burger. Finally came and discovered it was over cooked. Just wanted to leave since my wife was just sitting there being cold from the first table. No one apologized for the order mixup or delay … just servers running around trying to take & fill orders. All I got was a request for a 22-25% tip. Paid and left … was 8pm … about an hour after we were first seated. Thinking about the experience, thought the front desk was great. Rest of the operation was a work in progress. When we’ve experienced other new restaurants, I’ve always observed a manager walking around supervising staff and asking guests how there experience was. They would also fix problems in real time. We were in the restaurant about 1.5 hours. Never saw anyone who looked like they were in charge, asking guests how they were doing, or fixing problems … big miss. No more Cherry...
Read moreWe’ve always enjoyed the fresh and filling burgers from the original location in Cherry Creek even though parking and traffic became a massive headache. We were very excited to hear Broomfield was getting a location. Positives: The hamburger meat quality was great. It was seasoned well and cooked appropriately. The green chili on top was great. I appreciate the use of quality produce on top. Issues: The wait staff who took our order seemed to have a very difficult time hearing or understanding us. It was loud inside but we had to repeat things several times. Maybe they weren’t feeling well but the interaction wasn’t great. The server who took their place was very friendly and we communicated well. The onion rings were undercooked so not as crunchy as they should be. Burgers were great and a manger addressed the issue with the first wait staff and onion rings. Overall: I know the standards of the original location and this visit did not live up to those expectations, but things can get better. I know they just opened and are still ironing out the issues, but that can only be an excuse for so long. Definitely willing to go again, but the restaurant needs to make the needed adjustments to be...
