I’m so disappointed with my experience given how highly rated this restaurant is. I made a reservation about 2-4 days in advance, and was told when we arrived that there were other reservations for the same time that were also waiting and the restaurant was currently full so it would be a 15 minute wait. I absolutely understand and am happy to wait, but it is a huge red flag that a restaurant would be overbooked during a pandemic. I think it is important to note that the patio looked packed, way closer than 6 feet apart. We sat inside and it wasn’t an issue, so I’m grateful for that.
Once we were finally seated, our kind waiter took our orders for drinks. Drinks did not take long, but we had one drink from the bar that took a very long time. We waited over an hour for our food while other tables seated after us were enjoying their meals. I don’t think there is anything more frustrating than watching tables with more guests that were seated AFTER us being serviced more promptly. Our waiter did not apologize for the wait or communicate that there was a delay until we stopped him and asked him when we could expect to be served the food we ordered. The server could not have been nicer, and he did in fact bring us a complementary avocado toast for the wait, which was very much appreciated. The food was mediocre. We all enjoyed our meals because we were all so hungry by the time the food came. The last criticism I have for this restaurant is the cleanliness- I can understand that a restaurant serving breakfast foods may have syrup on the floors, but oh my gosh it was legitimately uncomfortable to walk on the floors because of how sticky and dirty they felt. Not a good sign, especially in these times. Both the men and women’s bathrooms were also poorly maintained, with one bathroom being out of service because it was clogged and clearly not had been cleaned every hour as stated on the door of the bathroom. One of the people at my table noticed FECES on the floor of the men’s bathroom (and showed me a picture, and yes he was right.) Again, very unsettling to feel that sanitation is being compromised especially in times like these where sanitation should be the utmost priority for restaurants. My suggestion to this establishment would be to reserve tables for their booked reservations, and improve their service and speed during their busy times. I have seen many restaurants have a 45 minute time frame during after reopening from COVID for your dinner to be served and the bill to be paid, and I think that would be beneficial for this restaurant to help them stay more organized and be able to clean and service their customers more efficiently. I decided to give only one star, for the food and for our patient server. If you are interested in dining here, I would suggest doing take out instead! Food was okay and the menu looks nice and I might order it sometime, but I would not dine here again or recommend this restaurant to a friend. I’m so bummed I was excited to have a new breakfast spot close by but we were pretty upset after...
Read moreUPDATE!!! BEWARE!! This restaurant is operating under the name Sunnyside on Door Dash. I tried to find the restaurant before ordering, but was unable to. Thought maybe it was a ghost kitchen. After receiving bad food and missing items in my order, I decided to do more research. I Google the address and it matches Eat. The suite number and everything is the same. Just know if you order from them, you're supporting Eat. I would have never ordered had I known that. And yet again....was disappointed. Had the food been terrific, not missing items, and I found out it was Eat, I would have changed my review but instead this validated why I left the first bad review and why so many others agree.
My boyfriend and I thought we would try this place Sunday for brunch since we pass by it all the time. From the beginning, it was a disaster. I'm not sure if this one day was a fluke, but it wasn't a great experience. We arrived and had a reservation for 12:15. We got there around 12:10. The host said he was going to have to push someone back to allow us in. He seemed annoyed we were there. He explained outdoor was full but we could dine inside. No worries, we weren't picky.
We waited quite some time to get helped. Evelyn, our server finally came. She was very nice. I ordered the chili cheese fries and a bacon flight for an appetizer. I even stated I wanted it to please come out before our entrees. 45 minutes later.....Evelyn tells us our food will be out. I asked where our apps were. She said everything was coming out at once. I explained we wanted our apps first not all at once. She said she would fix it but our food was already being made...tons of other diners around us were waiting for some time for their food or even to get refills or their checks.
Our appetizers came out. The fries were delicious. Perfect. But the bacon wasn't even full strips. They were pieces of bacon shoved in a cup. And no plates were provided. We had to track down the server to get smaller plates. Then 5 minutes later our entrees came out. I could tell they had been sitting under a heat lamp as my meat had dried out.
There was no apology, no make it right moment, nothing. The food would have been great had it been fresh. We got our check immediately after the food was brought because so many diners had been waiting for so long.
I understand places are short staffed. I get that. I am a retail store manager but training needs done at this location. The server should have apologized, given updates on why it was taking so long, and have the common sense that an appetizer comes out first. I also paid my bill and she took the signed copy before we left. Being a previous server, you never do that.
I write this review in hopes that management sees it and can use it as a training moment with the staff. It was very disorganized and not ran...
Read moreThis place was very disappointing. We waited so long for my bday brunch I had to leave for my nail appointment. The food was cold and overpriced. It’s trying really hard to be trendy but there is nothing inviting about this place. Feels like a cafeteria where a bunch of early 20 somethings come for hangover food. Not upscale or charming. Manager wouldn’t do anything for us either. Bummer because we really wanted to find a nice weekend brunch place in our neighborhood. I was excited about the menu but nothing about this experience was pleasant. Won’t be back.
I’m editing this review to include that the owner responses to low reviews are a little immature as well. Good customer success would include an apology, or perhaps trying to make the situation right so that the customer adjusts the stars or removes the review. Being rude or posting lengthy argumentative responses with customers only reinforces the problem. Ultimately my experience wasn’t good because the food took a very long time, and $13 for cold pancakes with no meat or eggs isn’t really what I’m looking for. I left because my food didn’t arrive on time, but my husband complained to our server and nothing was done. It was just a bummer to waste a birthday this way. I hope management takes this into consideration so that others can have better experiences than I did. The aesthetic is a matter of taste, but the industrial feel is loud and off-putting. Others may enjoy that vibe.
If I were an owner, I would apologize for the bad experience and kindly reiterate my positive position about the restaurant. Rather than argue in a public forum I’d invite the customer to contact me directly to see how the situation could be amended. I might invite them in for a better experience comped or discounted, and alert my staff to when they’d be arriving. I’d then encourage them to update their review. Most people are reasonable and just want to be heard and considered. It seems like a small price to pay to remove the worst reviews. People pay for an experience and when you fail to meet their needs you should try to make it right instead of being rude. If I saw the owner treating the reviewers with respect I’d happily remove my unfavorable review, but I’m disappointed when I see an owner call customers hateful or idiots. During covid we want to spend our money supporting businesses with high...
