I’m mildly disappointed with my experiences so far with Sweet Co. The first time I visited S.C., the atmosphere really surprised me. It was warm and welcoming while a relaxing feel. This has been consistent throughout all my visits. The service has also been good for the most part, the employees are nice and amicable. What really ends up leaving me disappointed every time are their drinks. The coffee is ok with nothing to write home about. Their matcha has been way too bitter. My last experience really pushed me over the edge to write a review. I started ordering an “iced coffee” (something that’s on the menu) and asked if they could add vanilla syrup. Simple order, I felt. The cashier asks what it is exactly that I want. I point at the menu and say “just the iced coffee”. She starts asking in confusion, “so like a latte or an americano?”. I say no thanks, just want that iced coffee. The barista jumps in and says “don’t worry, I got you”. Relieved, I say ok thanks. Maybe there was some type of misunderstanding with the menu or the ordering. I get my drink and what I receive is some chocolate cinnamon coffee. I say thanks and left. I didn’t like it but felt it would be more trouble getting it replaced. My issue is, why put things on the menu if you can’t make them or trying to persuade the customer from choosing certain items. I understand recommendations if the customer has no idea what they want, but I knew what I wanted, something I had ordered before, thats literally on the menu. Overall, it’s a nice place to study, service is ok, deserts are good (little pricey), matcha and coffee is completely average (with a way above average price). For what you’re paying, I’d expect more, or even consider going somewhere else where you’d pay a lot less for the...
Read moreLast Saturday, me and my friends decided to drive from McAllen to Brownsville to try Sweet Co. Unfortunately our experience was not worth the drive. Thier coconut drink is delicious! But when I asked about the sweetness level to make appropriate changes, the barista very rudely said he didn't know, when the cashier asked, as the cashier kindly told me he had never had that drink and wasn't sure. My friend asked questions on thier merch, and was met with the same rude remards from the barista. On top of that my friend ordered a brownie that crumbled as they tried to eat it, and warming it up did not help. The coffee shop environment in itself was very relaxing and enjoyable, but doesn't excuse poor customer service behavior or the low quality of...
Read moreWent here and got a variety of sweets to try - a smores cookie, cake pops, cupcakes and Alfajores (cajeta cookies). It was a cute little coffeeshop. Spent over $30. Everything was just ok, except the Alfajores, those were delish! The kids didn't like their cakepops. The cupcakes tasted like they were a couple of days old and were hard. We ended up going back the next day (for the Alfajores) and advising that we would like fresh cupcakes to try and the woman behind the counter said they weren't fresh and no fresh cupcakes were available. She didn't apologize for the stale cupcakes either so seems like may be a common place occurence. I appreciated her honesty but probably won't be going back if they don't offer fresh...
