Never in a million years did I think I would ever leave Amy's Place one of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo a bad review. I've been coming here since I was a teenager and I can't think of one time that I've ever had a bad experience here. But our visit there last month was a whole different story. I want to start by saying that our waiter was amazing. He's so nice and just a great waiter every single time. But we walked in, politely asked this woman with blue hair (and I mention that only so there's no confusion about who ruined our time there) if there was any possible way we could sit at a table instead of a booth since they're kind of small for 4 people. She quickly and in a nasty tone said "There's a booth open right there." so basically I repeated myself and she doesn't say anything to me but turns around and whispers to another employee about us and says "you can go in the side room". Then because our waiter was amazing, we luckily didn't have to see this woman until we cashed out. My husband asked if we could split the check 2 ways since we were dining with others and this woman goes (again with the most disgusted look on her face and tone) "I'll have the waiter come over and do it." So while we were waiting for him, another very nice employee came over and very easily helped us without us asking. As we turn around and let our other guests pay, the blue-haired woman is audibly talking about us. Like you would have thought this woman knew us and hated us or something. Literally insane. Hope her life gets better because holy smokes. I couldn't imagine her having to be nice...
Read moreGoing to a restaurant starts with some level of trust. They do make food behind closed doors most of the time and we eat the food. I had a take out order of 5 items. When I went there, the girl said that she accidentally gave it to someone else, and had his order still sitting there. The guy there said that they will redo the order and I can wait for about 15 minutes. Not thrilled, but things happen. He said he would take care of me later for my extra wait, not that it was my concern. I sat in my car outside and waited. Then I saw the guy with the wrong order came back to return the food and get the right order. After 15 minutes, I got in, and the guy said that the food was on the counter. I gave him my credit card and he said they only take cash. So I gave him cash. But the food looked really wrong, because the bag was a Target shopping bag (probably from the guy who returned the food). The guy said they just had a bag and put the food in there. I then touched the food, and it was cold. So I knew what happened; they were giving me the food that the guy just returned! The rest is just one lie after another. The guy actually said that if I wanted new food, he could make a new order. Obviously that was in question in his mind! You can't make this stuff up! I did tell the more senior lady there, who seemed to be in charge, that this was illegal. I really wonder how the food is prepared back there. When stuff gets dirty or out of date, I wonder if they would throw it away or feed you and...
Read moreAn inexpensive joint a lot of university students go to or anyone looking for a diner with pretty decent meal size. Lots of options which can be converted into a vegan meal. I'm not sure there's a place even close to this one that offers that many vegan options.
Vegan chili, chicken wings, many sandwiches to a vegan breakfast.
It's truly a greasy hole-in-the-wall places for vegans and non-vegans. It is one of those places that people return over and over, but I truly QUESTION the hygiene of this place sometimes. I have worked many kitchens for many years and I can tell you I've never seen the kitchen that I worked in as messy as this one. The sad part is you have to walk by it to go sit down, which is why I cannot understand the owner of this place would not train these staff members about their cleanliness.
I used to come to this place once a week for two and a half years, and now I go once every few months as the staff doesn't seem to have pride in their job, which is reflected in sometimes their attitudes and their clutterness/ dirtiness of where they work. I would have given this a five-star if it wasn't for non-food items. I understand the kitchen can get busy, it seem like this the the reflection of the restaurant all the time.
So if you're the owner of this place I would challenge you to seriously reflect upon what your customers are telling you about the hygiene of...
