I finally got to try their ny style pizza i heard so much about. I bet, that if i would've gotten a SMALL plain cheese pizza with extra sauce i would have liked it. But i ordered an X-large pepperoni and 1/2 sausage pizza. Heres the problems. The pizza is only good fresh. Which is odd because i love day old cold pizza. Not this pizza. Its awful as leftovers so i should've gotten a small. The dough is super dense and chewy. Nothing like the best ny pizza I've ever had (Favorite's pizza in Lewiston NY). Also there WAS NO sauce. I like a normal amount of sauce. Ok so here's issues With the toppings. The sausage was disgusting. And a ton of it on the whole thing instead of just half as i had ordered. It was too spicy as well. The pepperoni wasn't flavorful, yet it was as overwhelmingly salty as the sausage. It was like eating a Tony's frozen pizza with half a saltshaker's worth of salt on it... Yuck! Now here's the biggest problem of all for me, and a very few other Americans... MSG! Something in that pizza has MSG or something similar to it. I was having agonizing spasms for 5 or 6 hours, and what i can only call physical anxiety. Its like being mildly electrocuted after chugging 3 pots of coffee... I'll know in 2 hours If its the sausage and pepperoni. (Just ate a slice with the meat removed). I suspect its the processed meat, it usually is. Anyhow i see how drunken people would like this pizza. I give it two stars because I've had worse. Its still better than pizza in Florida. But I'd rather buy a frozen pizza from tops or wegmans. Buffalonians have such a huge variety to choose from when it comes to pizza. So someone has to love this place's pizza. For me, ill never order from Gino's again. So far My favorite pizza comes from Lewiston's Favorite's pizza". Give me a cheese&pepp from there and a nice cold beer and I'm in heaven. Rumor has it they opened up shop in Amherst somewhere .. Ill try i in September and see if its the same...
Read moreFirst, pizza was good+; second, I'm from Buffalo...the only thing i heard about NYC pizza was that it has a thin crust.
Come to find out that ny style white pizza has the typical, no red sauce, but with a base of olive oil and seasoning, and mottz cheese with nothing else.
In Buffalo, a white pizza comes with sliced tomatoes and thinly sliced white onion on average (some add green peppers). So I was pretty agitated when the pizza showed up as a cheese pizza.
It struck me funny when I was ordering from Insta Cart, that Tomato and Onion were on the choices of additional toppings. I was actually surprised that the white pizza came with any additional toppings since it's a specialty pizza, and specialty pizza is specific in design, not just a base pizza that you add items onto
I was hoping that since you are in Buffalo, it would be helpful to say that your NY style white pizza does not come with toppings.
You might not feel it's a big issue, but talk about a disappointment when you expect a certain flavor with that tomatoes zing and mild onion flavor.
It would also be a nice add-on to your menu to put a history of the new York...
Read moreCompletely disappointed, I happened to order from this Gino’s by accident, I thought it was the one in the University plaza. Well I bought the House pizza which is the most expensive, and I added extra cheese and pepperoni, GREEN olives, banana peppers, and mushrooms, and I asked for it to be cut in squares. It cost me $59 altogether that’s including delivery. Well when I got the pizza it was not cut in squares, there were BLACK olives instead of Green, it did not seem to be extra cheese at all, and the bottom of the pizza was cooked too long it was hard to bite through it. I called and talked with the owner and he was not accommodating at all, he said “well that’s the way we cook our pizza and basically said “ ok the only thing we did was put black olives instead of green” he didn’t try to resolve the issue. So needless to say it was my mistake for ordering from the wrong Gino’s. I will never give this place my business EVER ...
