Vasilis Express — Restaurant in Buffalo

I ordered from Vasilis Express twice this week with the hopes of some quick and dirty Greek comfort food. The first time, I called on my way into town from a weekend getaway with no menu. I asked for a Gyro Wrap, assuming that just about any Greek place would be able to handle such a request. Instead, I got something called a “Pile Pita”, which is basically a Greek Salad inexplicably piled high on top of a warm Pita and is completely inedible until disassembled.

Ok bad first experience, my fault for going in unprepared. I stopped in after a workout with my girlfriend again today. We were greeted by a chipper staff and made our orders, confident that we’d get what we wanted. My girlfriend settled on a pile pita knowing it would be a bit odd to eat. I ordered a Gyro Wrap again, but this time with the correct terminology staring directly at the massive wall menu. I also ordered a side of falafel, which was supposed to come with a side sauce of my choosing and a pita.

When I got home, I was incredibly disappointed to find that I’d been given a “Pile Pita” AGAIN, but this time it was constructed so poorly I can’t imagine why anyone would serve it. At least two handfuls of iceberg lettuce, some lazily sliced watery tomatoes, a massive glob of tzatziki (most of it stuck to the takeout container), and some bits of gyro meat scattered about haphazardly. Mind you, this horrible thing costs $3 more than the thing I wanted. Just to tack on a little more, I wasn’t given the option of my dipping sauce for the falafel and got some lackluster tahini by default, and no pita.

The most annoying part of both of these experiences is that the food I got, as disorganized and incomprehensible as it is to order correctly, is pretty good. Get it together guys! I’m trying really hard to like you.

I just want to leave off by saying that the food was fast and the service friendly, if not...

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! A week or so ago I ordered a sandwich from this restaurant for my fiancé, tonight I decided to order what I thought was the same sandwich. Called asked for a steak gyro apparently I should of asked for a steak sulvaki... Got the sandwich on time no issues there, but when I got not even 5 minutes down the road I opened the container to sneak a fry and I noticed the sandwich I had was not the same as what I thought I ordered. So I turned around and called the restaurant. The lady on the phones response to me expressing my confusion was “ohhh yeah you should of ordered the sulvaki not the gyro sorry” and then hung up on me. I didn’t even get steak!! A little angered I call back and ask if it’s ok if I bring the sandwich back and get what I guess I meant to order. her response was as follows “ohhh no you cant bring it back we can’t resell it so no we can’t help you remember what you ordered next time” and again hangs up on me. Ok RUDE! I understand it may have been my fault for ordering the wrong item but I went to college for Hospitality Management so customer service is nothing new to me but the number one rule in hospitality is to SATISFY THE CUSTOMER!! Instead of rudely hanging up on me not once but TWICE she could of politely told me my wrong doing and somehow could of fixed the situation. I didn’t ask for my money back I just wanted the delicious sandwich I thought I had ordered. Instead of that I have this useless lamb gyro. Waste of money and I will NOT be returning. So, I really wanted to like this place as I had high expectations after reading all of the reviews previously posted. I placed an order with vasilis through grub hub. I ordered a chicken souvlaki pita and a greek fry. The grub hub driver actually arrived with my food pretty quick. Quicker than I was initially told he would. My initial response was "wow" as the food was quicj, still warm and presented pretty well. Unfortonately, I immediately realized something looked different about the chicken. One bite and I knew it was lamb. Disappointed to say the least however that isn't the reason for this review. When I called grub hub customer service thinking vasilis would at the least be willing to remake my order and to my surprise they offered no resolve. No offer to refund or to correct their mistake. The grub hub customer service associate had informed me that they were refusing to do anything to rectify the matter and all they had said to her in response to my complaint was "we made it right". The nice lady on the phone offered me a credit worth $7.00 toward a next purchase through grub hub and though I appreciate her efforts it did nothing for me at the time. I was at work, hungry and had just spent $20.00 on a meal that I could not enjoy as I do not eat lamb. Needless to say I will not patronize this business ever again for their lack of consideration, effort and customer service. I had high hopes for this place but I have to say they left me...
