My racist experience with this restaurant : Wouldn't ever go to this place again. We are a group of 6 people ( We are Indians) who went to this restaurant today after our graduation to have a good evening as our friends recommended it to us. When we entered the restaurant there was no space for 6 people at one place but there was a seat for 4 people in which 2 "white" americans were sitting, these people didnt even start ordering their food ( which we got to know when we interacted with them) and nothing was served to them except the menu yet and there was a seat for 2 people which was vacant. There were 6 vacant seats in the restaurant in different places in which we were asked to sit , but we came as a group and we didnt want to do that. As the "white" couple sitting in a seat of 4 people with 2 empty seats didnt order anything yet me and my friend tried engaging in a friendly conversation with them in order to ask them if it would be possible for them to shift to the two vacant seats which were empty so that we a group of 6 people could occupy there place, we were talking to them and they told us that they were anyways about to leave even before ordering anything because of their "own" reasons, so they didnt have any problem in we taking their table after they left. Then came this bearded guy with a ring to his ears with a furious face talking to us as if we came there for free food at his mercy, he asked us to "get out" . We were really surprised to listen those words from a person who was assigned there to serve the customers ( I dont care even if he is the owner, thats not the way to talk to your customers ). He was somehow behaving in a very unwelcoming and rude way right from the beginning with us may be because we are not "white" crowd and because he "thinks" he wouldnt get his tip he expected. We just left that place and had a great dinner at the India Gate restaurant which was around 10 mins away from this place. We had a great evening :).
My response to the owner's sarcastic reply to my review (which is now removed by them ): Dear owner, your insensitive response trivializes the situation by focusing on "psychic abilities" and "mind-reading" skills which your employees dont really need in order to treat the customers with respect. Our group of six faced unwelcoming and biased behavior from your staff, specifically the waiter you mentioned, whose rudeness and hostility were evident from the start, it just took that genius waiter a few seconds to come to the conclusion that we are disturbing some "white" people there just because we were trying to engage in a friendly conversation with them trying to explain our situation to them to find if they would help us. This is a blatant display of racism and discrimination against a specific ethnicity, drawing unjust conclusions in an instant. If your staff cannot handle such interactions without resorting to rudeness and discrimination, it reflects poorly on your management and training practices. Instead of addressing the core issue of your staff’s behavior and the apparent discrimination we faced, your reply chose to mock our experience. This further illustrates a lack of empathy and professionalism on your part. As a business that relies on customer satisfaction, it is crucial to take such feedback seriously and work towards creating a more inclusive and respectful environment for all patrons. I hope you will reconsider how you handle customer complaints in the future and take real steps to ensure that no other customer has to face the kind of treatment we did. Until then, we will be sharing our experience widely to ensure others are aware of the potential for similar treatment at your establishment.
PS: Just because we mentioned that we are Indians you seem to be very sarcastic in your response and trivialized our concerns, I wonder if you would have been this sarcastic with your American crowd. I really think this is...
Read moreUPDATE (July 27, 2024): Went for an afternoon meal with my fiancé and on the food front, everything was awesome. I really loved the pizza and their Indian-inspired take on them! I had the Qeema pizza with spiced meats, tomatoes, onions, and fresh herbs. And my finacé had the Palak Paneer pizza.
Now, in terms of the service experience, this was lacking. Despite being appearing to busy, though admittedly there could’ve been some online orders coming in to delay kitchen food coming out, but from the time we ordered till the time we got our food was about at least 45 minutes which I felt was pretty unacceptable for just pizza. On top of that, their menu was either out of date or the server didn’t know about the pricing changes, but either way we were overcharged for our drinks and the process of trying to get that resolved prroved to be more of a headache than just paying the incorrect price in this case. I want to go back and support simply to eat that delicious pizza again, but that service experience will probably delay me visiting for sometime now.
ORIGINAL review (2022):
I wanted to check out this new restaurant and went with my partner on their first day open of the week. It was no wait to grab a seat at the bar and our server came by fairly soon after we sat. It should be noted that they recently got approved for their liquor license, but did not have any alcohol in stock yet. We were informed it should be there by the weekend.
I ordered the Kofta sub which came with fries and my partner had the chicken tikka sandwich with fries. you could upgrade to masala fries for two dollars but we figured we'd try just the classic way first. We both really love what we ordered in terms of taste and portion size and I would definitely try that sandwich I ordered again just because those meatballs were so delicious.
Really the only not great thing for my visit was just how long it seemed to take for our order to come out, yes there was a larger party ahead of us, but it seemed that it still took a bit longer than I would've expected for just two sandwiches at the end of the day. It was almost an hour from walking in to food being delivered. It's a newer establishment so I expect things like this will...
Read moreWe declare this amazing gem of a restaurant to share THE BEST cuisine from India in all of our travels across the United States and abroad! I realize this is a huge claim to make but we are certain you will agree once you run (not walk!) to Parivaar Pub in the charming Elmwood village area.
The name is deceiving with the word “pub” in it because the menu options are mind-blowing. You read the description of their wings and you want to try several varieties but then you move on to their small plates and see that they offer a very familiar street food from India called Pani Puri. We watched an order of Pani Puri walk by and it looked amazing! We will be having that on our next visit.
My husband had a hankering for Tikka Masala with garlic naan and the two items over-delivered in presentation AND flavors! The best garlic naan bread we have ever enjoyed. We have had Indian cuisine in London, NYC, and several regions that play host to great Indian restaurants and Parivaar Pub and chef/owner Joe and his team are knocking it out of the park.
We witnessed a Chicken Tikka Pizza go by and we were almost sad we had not ordered that as it was our alternate dinner choice. But we are here for one month in Elmwood and vow to enjoy the great cocktail program and food of this...
