Awefull service, they refused to let me pay over the phone for a pick up order. I explained that my best friend was picking up the food instead of me, as I wasn't near and she was on her way to me. I was told no, and that since the food was already made I wasn't allowed to cancel my order. I explained the circomstances to no avail. They expected me to drive 45 mins from Lockport NY to Buffalo because of thier no paying over the phone policy, when my best friend lives near Delaware Park. It was a Thursday, and I had already driven 45mins to and from my office in downtown Buffalo. I was put on a "no serve list" simply because my best friend, to no fault of her own, was having an awefull week financially. I discovered I was on this list when I ordered lunch for my entire office, I used my phone to make the order, completely unaware of this list. I had a nice conversation with the lady that took the call, I made the order and was told 20mins. I drove the 10mins from my office to Wasabi, with my phone, & I hadn't missed a single phone call, I checked! I sat in the car and waited 10mins, so I wasn't hovering in the rather small dinning area Wasabi has, then go in to be told that my 5 meal order was not made, and would not be made as I am on a "no serve list." The meal was about $50 I had $100 cash with me, I explained that this was for my entire office, not just me, that 4 other people would be effected by this policy. They refused, absolutely refused, to even consider making my coworker's and Boss' meal, even with me offering to pay them double the order in cash! Now, I hate it when people make a scene, I absolutely do! But simply because I am not the loud type doesn't mean I wasn't or am not upset! So I left quietly, but I want to make it clear that I am having my family attorney review the legality of the no pay over the phone policy, and it's subsequent no serve policy, as both feel rather discriminatory, and disparaging against the less fortunate among us. Imagine if I had been a mom of an out of state student, who was starving and needed food but just didn't have the money? If this policy stays in place, a child could posibly starve to death. I understand that there are other restaurants in the world. But could you imagine if they all had this poorly thought out policy?

Now I do want to be fair and honest in my review! So I do have to say that other that this awefull experience, the service at Wasabi had been phenominal. And the food, I assume, is still great. But as you can see, this policy is overshadowing, and has the potential to continue to overshadow, the fantastic work you guys are and...

Great little gem with a storefront that blends into the rest of the nearby buildings. You wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking for it. Inside is cozy and quaint, but it is very small. I think there were either 6 or 8 tables, which are also small, and placed very close to each other, so you're practically elbow to elbow with other diners. The food though, I've had sushi from up and down each Coast and this place is easily in the top 5. I got the omakase (chef special, $35) and was surprised at the amount they gave me. The server was also very kind and warm. Each bite was delicious. I had never had uni before this, and it wasn't bad. If I ever visit Buffalo again I'm going to...

Update: It's still just as good as the first time i had it. My family and I came here last night to celebrate my dad's birthday (my parents had never been) and everyone loved their meals/overall experience. 2 apps, 3 drinks, and dinner for 4 for $125 including tip. can't beat that, especially at this level of quality.

I love this place so much. been coming for over a decade. it's cute, the miso is my favorite, the sushi is authentic or absolutely off the walls with the specialty rolls, your choice. and the prices are amazing. my only gripe is that it's small, so getting a table can be hard. but it's...

This is hands down one of my favorite sushi places anywhere. It feels traditional, casual, authentic. It's affordable and high-quality. I've been to restaurants that feel much fancier and are much more expensive, and I prefer this every time. It's a small storefront on a busy strip, intimate, cozy, sparsely adorned with traditional, simple Japanese decor. Great for couples or small groups. It's also one of the only restaurants that I go to where I feel completely comfortable dining solo. Whether you're local or visiting Buffalo, if you like sushi you definitely have to go here.
