Hawaiian Island Burgers — Restaurant in Bullhead City

I grew up in Hawaii. I love Hawaiian Mac salad. If you know, you know. I've tried a few local places versions of mac salad. Some are better than others. I drove 40 miles to try this one and oh boy, don't waste your money.

I ordered 2 orders of mac salad, was $4 each, so $8 total. When I got out to my car and opened up, something didn't look right. I thought maybe they had accidentally given me potato salad. Upon further inspection there were also macaroni noodles.

So I was like, "well I paid for it, might was well try it"

So disappointing.

It was like they bought potato salad and macaroni salad from the Safeway in the same shopping center and mixed it together. And I say this because I regularly eat the Safeway potato and macaroni salads. It tasted identical.

I was so upset that I didn't even go back in to get my money back. I left and threw the food away.

I was so so excited, I never imagined someone could disrespect Hawaiian food like that.

Edit to reply to owner: No you didn't see me enjoy anything. You may have observed me trying it, but "enjoyment" is a huge stretch. No, I won't be back for the kahuna burger. First impressions and all that.

Also, notice that there's no dispute that they mixed grocery store potato and macaroni salads.

Maybe try to apply customer feedback instead of trying to defend yourself.

PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR MONEY! Went to try a burger long time resident new customer. $15 plus for a very thin undercooked frozen patty that fell apart. It is very cheap ingredients and even worse customer service. Ordered the meal and was given a kids water cup for my drink with a ton of ice. Took 2 sips and was done. Asked if I could get a large. Owners grandson said it's an extra charge! When he never asked what size I wanted in the first place!!!! Paid for larger size and I got 2 1/2 sips out of that one for 2 DOLLARS MORE!!!!! Came with fries.....thats all....just some horribe fries. Final thoughts are, we cannot continue to allow this atrocity of a so called restaurant establishment here in Bullhead City to take our money and as we walk out the doors laughing behind our backs! Do not just settle be heard be proud! Then and only then when they are gone we may hopefully have a new food restaurant worthy of our hard earned money!!!! Stop the supporting and end...

The service and atmosphere are great which is why I feel horrible leaving a bad review. But the food was almost inedible. We ended up spending $100 and then having to go down the street to spend more money at another restaurant because everyone was still hungry. Definitely don’t order anything with spam. The spam color was off like it was old. And the musubi was cold and hard on one side.

Update in response to owner: We actually couldn’t even take one bite of the musubi. We spit it right out…both times. So you had 4 full pieces of musubi sent back. None of us touched our rice. We only ate the chicken out of the chicken rice bowls. So…I wouldn’t be bragging if I were you. I didn’t want to put the pics of the all the food we left behind because I didn’t want to be rude.
