2022,01-28/1945: We were invited to this place by a group of friends. They made a reservation so you would think we'd get in a bit faster but maybe they didn't expect to be so busy. Then we saw that they closed at 9 so we weren't sure how this was gonna end up! We finally sat and that was close to 8. Wow, this place has nothing but high back 6-top booths. So it was super tight placing us in a booth that we had to bend safety regulations and they had placed a chair alongside the end of the table which somewhat blocked the servers' walkway. They were smart not to seat the booth across from us and behind our friend that had to sit at the end of the table. From the get-go, space was limited and it was uncomfortable for me because I was sitting in the corner position of the booth so I had no elbow room at all. We were all practically on top of each other that we didn't know who's silverware and waters were who's.
Luckily, our experience was redeemed by our lovely server, Kaitlyn, who was busting her hump to take care of us and her section. She had the best attitude ever knowing that she was in the weeds. I don't know about you but it's pretty hard to have a section with all 6-top, large party tables. That's one hard job. The place was hopping so it was tough for her. The whole place was in the weeds so it took a bit of time to get the complimentary bread and our cocktails. She apologized and I loved that she was very clear about everything. She was honest and had the best outlook and WAS ALWAYS SMILING. You can see it through her mask and hear it in her voice. She was absolutely FANTASTIC.
We forgot to order our Baked Spinach and Artichoke Dip but that's okay because their Molasses Bread and butter did the job pretty darn well. Hot, fresh bread that lightly sweet and served with real butter was divine. She brought us plenty of bread and the timing of her replenishing us with a second round was impeccable. My drink was a Ginger Mule made with Tito's Vodka, lime juice and ginger beer (forgot what they call it here). Delicious. I ended up getting the Grilled Salmon with Roasted Asparagus and their Roasted Brussel Sprouts. All was cooked to perfection! My salmon was flaky on the outside, juicy on the inside. Of course, the Roasted Asparagus was on point and so was my favorite, the Brussel Sprouts. I do believe that they should give you more of each for the price you pay, which wasn't too bad. It would even out the portions of the dish.
We also had the Steakhouse Bacon Cheeseburger. It was a tad bit overdone but still delicious. It was piled high and was served with fries I still believe for the cost of fries, they should add a little bit more to the entree. Those were also cooked to perfection.
Other than the 40 minute ticket time to get our main entrees and the 15 minutes each time it took to get the bread, drinks and appetizers, everything else was outstanding. Being it took a bit for each course, it was spread out well so that we weren't all sitting there super hungry and speechless between each wait. Like I said earlier, Kaitlyn did a superb job of doing that because then we'd have to sit there looking at each other if the wait was too long between each course. She was incredible. Yes, we will visit again but not when it's a high volume time. We'll have to stop in between the rushes.
Thanks, Kaitlyn and I really hope that your GMs see this because you made our experience great! Your timing an excellent customer service makes us want to return! Our drinks were never dry and our tables were always bussed and ready for the next course....
Read moreThis was my first Black Angus experience, but don't let the lack of stars fool you: it was a positive one.
First off, I should have expected the cowboy motif from the old commercials I watched, but it still came as a pleasant surprise: I'd rather look at nice photos of men riding horses over scenic expanses than have to endure pop art. The music was too loud, but it was mostly country-western. Now, I'm no fan of the genre, but neither does it offend me, and virtually all other modern music offends me, so I'll happily endure C&W.
The steak was better than Sizzler, not nearly as good as Ross Wood's Steakhouse (which was in Manhattan Beach and hasn't existed for decades; be very sorry you never ate there because I did, many times, and they were the best steaks this side of the Sierra Nevada Range), and costs about half as much as any decent steakhouse, maybe even less. I've had a better rib eye steak before, but it cost twice as much and I had to drive to Boise to eat it. So, for the price, I was very happy with my 8 oz. rib eye--and even happier with the free lobster tail that came with it (don't you adore coupons?). Yes, I had better lobster on Martha's Vineyard, but I had to fly to freaking Massachusetts to eat it. My wife's mac & cheese was good, though not as good as Elephant Bar & Grill... which costs more, too. The wild rice and salad sides were fine: nothing fancy, but fresh and fine. My wife loved her mash potatoes (for which I lacked the room to try) and we both enjoyed the dinner roll, which was surprising as we're neither big fans of brown bread.
Music was too loud, but tolerable; the waitress was friendly, efficient and helpful, though she could have picked up our check quicker (not really worth mentioning... so why the hell did I?). Food was fine, prompt and the servings more than adequate. It ain't a French bistro, so don't expect fancy. It's just good old American chow, plenty of it and you'll...
Read moreIt been years since I been to a Black Angus so that's why I decided to take my wife here last night to celebrate our 6 years anniversary. We basically ate at all the restaurants in Burbank beside this one so I wanted to change things up.
I made reservations off OpenTable along with putting we were celebrating our anniversary and was willing to give this restaurant a try since the last time we went to the Northridge location (6 years ago), it wasn't a good experience. I found parking easily on a Thursday night and the moment you walk in, you can tell this place is outdated or not modernized. We got seated near the bar and the environment was just more calm especially with the music. Our waitress came and took our drinks order first. I got a regular Pepsi and at the Northridge location they kept overfilling my drink so it would spill on the table, this location was the exact same issue.
We took advantage of the happy hour so I ordered the cheesy trio. They give regular bread as well which we thought was good, the cheesy trio is good when you eat it hot. My wife ordered her grillled salmon with Mac & cheese and broccoli. I got the 12oz ribeye at medium with fries and Mac & cheese. It didn't take our food to come out and I thought my ribeye looked more burnt than cooked at medium. I was right because I mostly taked the burnt flavor on my steak but it was tender and not that juicy. You even see all the burnt on my plate after eating it so it was not good. My fries was just okay and I did not like the Mac & cheese here. My wife thought her Salmon was on the drier side and didn't like the Mac & cheese either. The bathroom here also need some remodeling because it's not in the best of shape.
Overall we're not planning on coming back to this Black Angus again. The crowd here seems the be on the older people group since we barely saw any young adults. We went somewhere else to get dessert since our experience...
