What can I say about this wonderful Armenian restaurant? I would have to say it's probably the best Middle Eastern food that I've had in Los Angeles. And, at a price about half of what you would pay at a larger restaurant with a bigger staff. As far as I know the same two owners have had this restaurant for decades, as long as I have been in Burbank, and their family operates it. It is a delightful place with astounding food and wonderful service. There is minimal seating inside which is fantastic for us, because we prefer small quaint restaurants where you're not going to get Lost or forgotten. The server can never go anywhere in the restaurant without seeing you. She's right there at the register. The chef has to walk right past you to deliver food to the service area. It reminds me of those little old Italian restaurants on the East Coast. Very quaint and adorable. The food is absolutely delicious! Also, it is not loaded with dairy products like some other Mediterranean fusion restaurants. If you have a dairy allergy like me, this food will not make you sick. Most of the food is vegan, unless you specifically order a meat dish. They have many vegan options. That's one of the appealing things about Mediterranean and Middle Eastern foods. Again, because this is a purist Middle Eastern restaurant, the food is stripped bare of any additional components that a western palette would demand, like dairy products, sweetening or oversalting. It's like homemade, like mom used to make this. Every time I go there, I smile really big because it reminds me of my moms food. She's in heaven with Christ, but I can still go someplace and enjoy a meal that reminds me of her. We have had many different items on the menu. We're not locked into any particular thing. Because all the food is good and the service is exceptional, it encourages experimentation. You're comfortable trying new things, because you're not going to get burned. I have captions under my photos and videos and hopefully they will be helpful to you. The lentil soup is vegan, fantastic and very healthful. The shish kebabs have zero fat on them, pure lean protein. The hummus is traditional, no dairy products added, and traditional olive oil added on top. The pita bread is traditional flat pita bread, not the puffy European version with the extra calories and milk added to make it more tasty. And since the family owns and operates the restaurant, they take every customer on a personal level, making sure that you are treated supremely. Again, I've mentioned this about a few other restaurants in Burbank, but this is a wonderful restaurant to take a date. The staff won't make you look bad. If you take your date there, the staff will treat you with respect, so you will pay the bill and leave feeling like you had a good experience. I hope you enjoy the...
Read moreArmenian owned & operated "Greek Food" that is subpar. I would consider this more a "Mediterranean Restaurant" than a traditional Greek one. Just stick to the grilled kabobs and pita sandwiches. . . Don't go trying to order more traditional Greek entrées like the "Pastitsio" or the "Moussaka" cause you will be greatly disappointed bigtime.
In all honesty, I feel that this restaurant should close down due to the competition of the neighboring eateries that surround the place. I also feel that Gordon Ramsay and the Fox TV show "Kitchen Nightmares" would be a total waste time if they ever submitted help from the show. The owners are better off just selling the property, and let new blood and activity come into that one side of the strip of the iconic San Fernando Boulevard of Downtown Burbank. The location has soooooo much potential, but let's face it, that section of the strip is dead, with all the action and attention going to other places. It's a waste of time, energy, and your money to come in here, cause you can go to other places close by for better Mediterranean Fare and a better overall experience.
Would I come back? Yeah cause I'm a glutton for punishment, and would only fuel my rage to write up an even worse review than what you are reading here. I mean come on now. . . I know I'm not the only one who feels this way!!! There is no passion here. Nothing worth coming back to. All they do is shout at each other in Armenian languge here through the walkie talkie and or at the grill in front. . . You can just feel that negativity and disgust in their tone and body language. If you can, just order "Ala Carte" cause they will give you way too much rice, roasted tomato, and simmer onions on the platter to justify thier initial price point of what you are getting. They do nothing new and exciting like the other places close by that serve similar fare (don't make me list those places, cause if you know, then YOU KNOW where to go to avoid this place...
Read moreWARNING BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL when ordering from this place off of GurbHub. If I could give this place less than one star I would. It started when our delivery order was almost an hour late. When we called the restaurant to see what was taking so long they informed us that "It's all good! The food is on it's way!" Fishy. When we called GrubHub, they said the driver had just informed them he was five minutes away and noticed the driver marked the order as delivered! Fishy, again. We then received a call immediately after we hung up with GrubHub from the driver stating he was twelve minutes away...come on. When asked where he was coming from, he said Dodger stadium! Maybe he had to make a quick stop? An errand perhaps? Did he get lost? Who knows?! Why a delivery driver would take a route around Dodger Stadium when driving from Burbank to Eagle Rock is really perplexing.
Finally the food was delivered (he pulled up to the wrong house) he offered no explanation save for a shrug and a mumbled "Sorry." Food was cold and inedible, the tabbouleh actually tasted rancid, so we threw it away immediately. I really don't understand the fantastic reviews this restaurant has.
Seeing that the restaurant refused to refund us or even discount our meal, we received a full refund and apologies abound from GrubHub for our hassle. Thats when we find out the restaurant called GrubHub after we called to complain to up-charge us an extra $8.20 on top of the five dollar delivery charge because we were out of their ten mile delivery radius. Our house is 7.7 miles away! Even if you take the scenic route around Dodgers Stadium. Despicable. STAY. CLEAR. Go to...
