It's easy to say that Toro sushi is one of my favorite sushi places. Definitely up there in the top three. I love the small, quaint atmosphere. There are only a few tables inside the restaurant and a couple outside. The server can't be on the other end of the restaurant and not see you. You can be seen from any corner of the restaurant because it is compact. I enjoy eating there very much for several reasons. First of all, the food is exceptionally good. For the price, I would have to say it's the best sushi I've ever had. There are sushi hand roll starting as low as six dollars! And that's any time of day not just at lunch. Where else can you find a deal like that? Then there are incredibly detailed and delicious higher priced rolls like the caterpillar roll in my photos but I have to say, you're still getting it for about half the price as you would any other sushi place that has a larger footprint and bigger staff. Because they only have the owner, chef and server, they have a very low overhead and they keep their prices very low. However, the service is exceptionally high! I've been there many times, weekdays and weekends, lunch and dinner, holidays and what not, and the employees are always courteous, polite and welcoming. They will bend over backwards for you, making sure that you are happy. The server who waited on us recently was also very kind and accommodating, and her name is Fel. We went there to celebrate an achievement and I kept asking her for more food because I hadn't eaten most of the day and the food was just so darn delicious! So she kept bringing out more plates and bowls of things. Because it's sushi, it's very light and you don't feel heavy or lethargic afterwards. Toro sushi is the perfect sushi place! Especially for a first date or any time. You can take a date there because you're not going to look bad and the service is exceptional. Also it's not loud and disruptive so you can really focus on your date. I like to go there with my wife because we can really just focus on each other and not be constantly mobbed with disruptive behaviors and sounds. A long time customer came in and the server gave her a big hug! She sat at the bar and started ordering food and chitchatting with the server. The place has a very quaint and pleasant atmosphere. It's like those little places that you see on TV or in the movies. I've ordered many different things on the menu, but I especially enjoyed the salmon rolls, tuna rolls, sashimi, and recently I tried the protein bowl. The protein bowl is fantastic because you can get it on a bed of spring lettuce, so it's really having no impact on your carbohydrates. Add a hand roll and you have a very lean and balanced meal. I will close with the fact that they have Purse hooks at the tables! Incredibly thoughtful and allows you to clear your table for all the delicious food that you will be eating!
Edit: Oh my gosh! I ordered delivery from Toro and was floored at the quality of the food and the delivery service! I mean, can these guys get any better? The delivery package was for me and a coworker, and we were both amazed by the cleanliness, organization, and the quality of the food. Personally, I got all my protein for the day from just two salmon hand rolls! They were so good, so juicy, and full of fish. I feel like I've gotten healthier since I've started eating at this restaurant. I added some photos of the...
Read moreSometimes you stumble on a place that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard. It just gets it right. That’s how Toro Sushi Poke House in Burbank felt to me.
From the second I walked in, the energy was casual but warm. The kind of spot where the staff greets you quickly, not in a scripted way, but with that easy friendliness that makes you relax a little. It’s the sort of atmosphere that says, “Yeah, you can hang out here without overthinking it.”
Toro’s menu isn’t overwhelming, but it has plenty to keep you curious. Poke bowls, sushi rolls, and a handful of little extras give you space to experiment. And here’s the kicker. They run half off deals on certain items all day. That’s not one of those fine print, two hour window gimmicks. It’s just there, ready for you. Who doesn’t smile at a deal like that?
If you’re someone who loves to build your own poke bowl, you’ll appreciate the options. Fresh fish, crisp toppings, and sauces that hit the right notes. It all feels like they took some care without making it fussy.
I’ll admit it. I’m not the biggest sushi aficionado. But the poke bowl I tried made me stop mid bite and nod. Fresh fish, a balance of flavors, and that clean, satisfying finish you want from a lighter meal. It didn’t try to be overcomplicated. Instead, it just tasted good. Simple as that.
Honestly, that’s what you want sometimes. A meal that doesn’t weigh you down but still feels complete. The kind of food you can grab at lunch and still have enough energy to power through the rest of the day. Or take it slow and linger over for dinner.
Here’s the thing. Toro doesn’t scream for attention. It’s not covered in neon or blasting music. It’s more of a “if you know, you know” kind of spot. And that makes it feel like a hidden gem.
Burbank has no shortage of food choices, but this one stands out for being approachable. You can swing by on your lunch break or bring a friend for a laid back dinner. Either way, you’ll get a meal that leaves you feeling good, not just full.
If you’re in Burbank and craving something fresh, easy, and friendly, Toro Sushi Poke House is worth a stop. It’s casual enough for a quick bite and welcoming enough for a sit down. Plus, with those half off deals, it’s tough not to feel like you’ve scored a little win.
Sometimes a meal is more than just food. It’s how a place makes you feel. Toro left me with a smile, and honestly, that’s reason...
Read moreToro Sushi is one of my favorite mom and pop shop I've been going to for a couple of years now and I can say they are the last place I have seen retaining their menu price from a couple of years ago even with our current inflation. Their service is excellent. They are sometimes busy and I've seen the owners would also help serve and also help in the kitchen. I am always patient when I go eat supporting small businesses.
They still have some HALF OFF sushi special every single day at any time of the day.
Their Poke is delicious and they are not skimpy with portion. I always order the soft shell crab with Spicy Tuna with Salmon. Sometimes with salad and sometimes with sushi rice. Sushi rice is extra dollar but worth it than regular white rice for $20 - 3 protein which is $19 plus sushi rice $1.
My wife always order the Yellowtail Collar for $15. Comes with rice and salad.
I would also order their dynamite, salmon Philadelphia cheese and crispy tempura roll.
I end up taking home half of every single order above and enough for our dinner.
I hope they keep their price low because this is the my only sushi place I go to. 😃
Please always bear in mind that this is a small business trying to thrive in this time of inflation and also trying to keep their price low. They might be understaffed and please have patience with them. Always flag if you need something. Please do not assume they had ignored you as a customer. They have been more than accomodating at all times and every single time I've...
