When entering here, it has a very inviting kind of vibe. It's bright, clean, and so organized. The pastries look so pretty. It looks like it's just a display, and you don't want to eat it. We were greeted right away, but customer service slowly went downhill from there. They got our items together, and I paid. Not even 2 minutes later, "They were like we forgot to charge you for this." I paid again. Only to find out when we got home, we were missing our macarons. I called, and they were like we have it here at the counter." I asked for a refund since we weren't going all the way back there. The lady tells me, "I'm not sure if we can." Of course, by this time, I was annoyed. I waited patiently to make sure I got my money back. Aside from the experience, their pastries are amazing.
Caramelia choux - This was delicious and had something crunchy inside. I didn't care for the buttercream on top. The different layers complemented each other.
Matcha raspberry - If you love matcha, this was amazing, and the raspberry paired perfectly. I had tried this first and did not share.
Signature chocolate tart - smooth, and I loved the crunchiness from the hazlenut praline.
Harmony - This looked so delicate to eat but delicious l.
Vanilla flan - This had like a creme brulee topping. So scrumptious.
Everything I tried was amazing and good to the last bite. I did not share my pastries. Everyone had their own because it was that good. Prices are a little up there but definitely worth it when it's an occasional treat.. this time around, it was...
Read moreThis is the place, where if you sit outside and are not otherwise engaged in a conversation or with your earbuds up, you'll notice that roughly every third couple or group walking by there's that one person who interrupts and says "THIS is the place..." and goes off on their own glowing review as they walk away. I'm not joking. You can try it yourself. All you need is about 20 minutes sitting outside, being aware of your surroundings as people walk on by, as you savor what I consider to be the best pain au chocolat (and croissants) I've had outside of France.
Proust’s Swann had his madeleine in Combray, I had my pain au chocolat at Maison Alyzée.
This is, mind you, on Burlingame Avenue, where there are at least five other serious bakeries within less than a two block radius. Why do I have the feeling their storefronts aren't eliciting the same type of responses from passersby? I could see for myself, but I don't think they'd appreciate me sitting outside their respective bakeries enjoying a pain au chocolat and a latte from Maison Alyzée. Among the many things COVID changed, it's interesting it established an outdoor cafe culture in the U.S. that I hadn't seen much outside of France. Maison Alyzée is just taking full advantage of that by not only importing the expertise of French pastry baking but the crucial ingredients themselves that can’t be substituted locally to pull off what has become my favorite breakfast over the past few months. Also, amazing $5 baguettes, $1 chouquettes, and, yes, the $10 mille-feuille is well worth it at a...
Read moreBest Croissant in makes for a wonderful start of the day. Find your croissant at Maison Alyzée. This one is mine! Not only do they offer a delicious croissant their Vanilla Latte is excellent too!
The staff at Maison Alyzée also pays attention to the details of your order. My order today included having my croissant warmed up and a honey puddle on the plate for dipping. My latte was perfectly delivered extra hot and with whole milk. The heart latte art was cute.
Their other offerings are delicious too. Their quiche makes for a nice meal before heading off to nearby grocery shopping. Available as a Lorraine, or as vegetarian option.
Excellent table delivery service offered with smile.
Clean throughout! Including the bathrooms and the outside tables. This is a place you can feel safe to bring your children and partners.
Easy parking withing a short walk around the corner, if you can't find parking out front.
This is a place for friends , family and chatting. But their WiFi offering is good enough for work too.
I love the experience at Maison Alyzée in Burlingame California. I am. Sure you will too.
