Wow. Iām so disappointed. This place used to be one of my favorites but the last few times Iāve gone here has been a TOTAL LETDOWN. Went there tonight after placing an order-over the phone- GYRO-One of their staples- drove 20 minutes into town to pick it upā¦. Only for the girl behind the counter To tell me they DONT ACTUALLY HAVE gyros and her explanation was that there was a change of shift and she didnāt know WHAT they had.š”š”š”š©š©š©š”š”š”at least dude cooking the food that had nothing to do with this mistake saidā sorry for the inconvenienceāšš½Also- for what itās worth I think the owner is a really decent guy and it makes me sad that other peopleās F-ups could cause his business to failā¦.E D I T!!!!! Guys, I swear to goodness for whatever reason I really love this place and I want to support them but I have to tell you tonight was another huge disappointment. First of all Iām at order was messed up. I literally argued about what I ordered with the lady on the phone until the guy realized that, the rest might order was written at the bottom of the receipt. No biggie whatever it happens. ā¦. HOWEVERRRR- I paid $13 for a quarter of a box of burnt sweet potato fries and three pieces of burnt falafel. They literally had no flavor. All I could taste was burnt oil. Iām so disappointed- Whoever the owner of the shop I see you I think youāre trying to do good things but lately itās just not on pointš©š©š©PPSS- I just took a bite of the burnt falafel and dipped it in the tahini-It was literally INedible.š© Damn, I work hard for my money and itās really disappointing to spend the equivalent of three hours of work to ātreat ā Myself to something that I donāt even wanna eat.š«¤ā®ļøā¤ļøšÆ(after reading the other reviews, it seems like inconsistency is the only thing consistent here-Which is definitely a shame because I have had really good food from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe paid $52, waited over an hour, and never got our food (two gyros). The whole interaction was disrespectful. I tried to pay with cash for my date. My date insisted on paying with their card. The service worker harassed me about putting the $20 in the tip jar for a $22 order (not just playful banter, but like eight unrelenting comments. The customer behind us defused the situation with a joke about touching finger tips). I put the twenty dollar bill away and pulled out my three ones. My date added seven more. So we paid $10 cash in tips on a $22 order. The service worker told my date that they didn't pay even though the kiosk showed that they had. So my date paid again! Then we waited 45 minutes and all the people in line behind us had finished eating their orders. So we went to the front and politely asked if maybe our order got missed. The service worker goes, "Where's your ticket?" And we responded, "You never gave us a ticket." And he goes, "I give everyone who pays a ticket. No ticket. No food. I never serve anyone without a ticket. If you don't have a ticket, I won't be serving you." You can see the order on my date's credit card statement. I've never had this happen to me. I'm 36. I've worked service. I know how stressful it can be. We don't wanna make waves. We just wanna make it right. The workers belligerence/inflexibility was likely an expression of overwhelm. I get that. I just don't think it's fair that we paid $52, waited for over an hour, and got nothing in return. If the owner sees this, I'll delete this for a $52 gift card. Just doesn't seem fair. This occurred last night on New Year's Eve between 12:30am and 1:30am. I hope the two service workers working last night have better shifts...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLiterally the most insane story of incompetence, rudeness and lying.
We called in a take order - went to pick it up totally normal weāve called in at Ali Babaās a thousand timesā¦.
Hereās weāre the insanity begins: my partner went in to pick up the order she had just ordered 20 minutes previously on speaker phone with me right there. The man at the register rudely told her nobody ordered anything. He swore at her, his band of two other dolts backed him up - she came back to the car visibly upset and shaken after being yelled at.
I went back in to check to see if there was a mistake. I encountered the same hostility. They said āmaybe she called the Turkish place next doorā āmaybe she called another ali babasā every excuse in the book.
I then asked them what the number was to their restaurant (Ali Babaās)- all of them said āI donāt know the numberā of three employees NONE knew the number - incompetent or lying. Either is bad. It didnāt matter - I said this is the number we called (their number): AND SURE ENOUGH - it rang right to them. The staff continued to lie and be hostile after being OBVIOUSLY in the wrong.
Hereās the deal - if they had just said āwe messed up lost the order, sorry, will you wait 10-15 minutes? ā or even āI donāt know what happened, what do you need, sorryā no harm no foul - but to be hostile and rude enough to drive someone to tears because of an obvious mistake on their part is unacceptable.
Totally stinks because Iāve been eating at ali babaās for literally 35 years and I donāt if Iāll ever go back because of the three employees...
