Jimmy's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Burlington

This might actually be the worst breakfast place I've ever been to, and I've been to A LOT. I was on a business trip, and they were one of the closer restaurants nearby. When I got there, the waitress was nice and, even though I was by myself, she said I could sit anywhere and pointed to all the tables along the wall and the booths, as well as the counter area. The booths were completely empty (there are 6) so I decided to sit in one of those. I was on my phone when a different lady (I think she's one of the owners) brought me my food and she was nice as well. I was still looking up stuff on my phone for work, so I hadn't really had a chance to start eating yet. About 15 mins later, the same lady who brought my food came by and mentioned that I hadn't touched my food yet (I thought she was just checking to make sure that everything was OK with my food like most waitresses do, even if I didn't get started eating right away). Instead, she was mentioning that I hadn't eaten and that I was by myself and that it was getting busy and they would need the table. Now mind you, this was at 8:30 on a Saturday morning and there was only 1 person at the counter and only 4 of the 6 booths were occupied, counting the one I was using, and none of the 2 person tables along the wall were taken and nobody was even coming in the door at all. When I had mentioned that the lady at the door had told me I could sit anywhere, the owner told me that the lady meant the counter or the tables along the wall. Normally I'm a very big tipper, even if the service or food is ok I normally try to give at least 20-25% tip. Needless to say this was the first time I ever gave a $.30 tip. No one could pay...

Absolutely dissapointing. I went there for a brunch with my family. While the food was okay, except the home fries which were really dry, the service was terrible. Not only were they rude, but could be seen off to side talking about customers, and making fun of some. ALWAYS READ YOUR CHECK HERE. I got my check and went to drop a tip on the table. While I was getting up to pay I glanced at my check and saw that 18% gratuities were already added into my total! Literally added on and circle as my final total. When a approached the short haired blonde lady she stated that she didn't know why I was upset. Well it's because the check is misleading, and had I not read it, she would have received double the tip. Anyone on planet Earth knows when a total is circled it's final, she tried tricking us into paying more. They have excellent food and service. Their prices are competitive but not discounted. The only issue I have had there over many visits is when I asked for salsa with my meal. It clearly states on the menu that an additional ingredient in an omelette is $.95. I think that salsa should be considered a condiment but can understand a small charge as it does cost more than condiments such as ketchup or mustard. However the owner charged me $3.50 even though the waitress herself, agreed with my complaint. The owner tried to tell me that salsa is a sauce (like a cheese sauce) and a sauce is $3.50. I stopped going there as often as I used to and have been going to a competitor, close by because I was so annoyed. I always leave at least a 20 percent tip so I could not understand the debate over the difference - $2.55. I paid the difference but the owner lost a lot more money than if she had accommodated my request to reduce the charge...
