We've been going here for the past 2 years, and have most likely eaten here 20 times. Food is usually pretty good, which is what we like. The lunch buffet has several items to choose from, although what we've found is that the bread or pooris can be in really short supply during the peak buffet hours. The buttermilk drink they have is really nice and the desserts are also good.
Evenings can be a bit tricky here. We used to go on weekdays around 7:00pm and everything was great, including the service and the food. Of late, we have been frequenting the place on Friday/Saturday nights around 8. If you do that, be prepared for long waits (~30 minutes) and get a table first before standing in the line to order. They do mention that with signs explicitly - so no real issues there.
The very interesting thing is what they do with Indo- Chinese food during peak dinner hours. If you go in early enough (maybe before 7:45pm), you get Indo-Chinese food. Then, all of a sudden, a sign appears saying "No Indo-Chinese". This sign remains on there up until about 9 or so. Patrons coming in during the last half an hour of the restaurant being open appear to get that cuisine.
Not sure if this is because of extra time the cooks take to prepare Indo-Chinese food, or if it causes too many fumes in their kitchen, but the curious unavailability of Indo-Chinese food during rush hour on weekend nights is intriguing. Interestingly, today - there was a sign up saying "No Indo-Chinese" when we entered the place. No issues. But the person in front of me was able to order 3 plates of Hakka noodles (Order # 42 on 2/9/2018). We were order number 43, but we were refused that cuisine on asking. Not sure what was going on. Anyway, there is a new Indo-Chinese place across them that opened recently - Singh Ching. We will see if that is any good.
At times, they also take a long time to get kids orders, which is not something I generally expect. Adults can wait 30 minutes for food during rush hours. But I would expect children's dishes to come out first. Its hard enough with toddlers. Let alone hungry ones.
I still give this place 4 stars - as during weeknights and the buffet, things are really great. Even during weekends, anytime before 7:15pm or after 8:45pm would be good.
We will still keep going there as we do like the food. If that quality goes bad, maybe not. The model of the restaurant is a mixed model. That is - you stand in a line to order. No server will take your order. You are issued a number and then the 2-3 servers bring in your food as it gets ready. This creates unnecessary lines near the counter and everything appears chaotic. Having someone to take orders from seated patrons could reduce the chaos during rush hours a bit.
Overall, Ritu Ki Rasoi gets 5 stars for food, 3 for service. 4 overall.
While the price is reasonable, their on table menu prices can different than what is listed on their menu screen. For example, the Falooda Kulfi is listed on the table menu to be about $5.50, it would actually cost you $7.95.
The owner and management need to fix these little things and I would give it 5 stars.
Thanks...
Read moreEditing again the review.. post 6-24-21 visit. Surprisingly the food did arrive on time and the taste was as usual. Nothing extraordinaire. An Indian male server serving the food was quite impolite, argued over the number of boxes we needed to pack our food and rudely denied to provide any box for the sambhar but later decided to bring the boxes. Asked for Splenda but the same impolite person decided to hand over only one packet. We told we needed atleast 2 since we have 2 chai. So then he gave only 2. As if this wasn't enough already, before leaving, the same person reminded us to pay for water bottle even before we could even get up from our seats rather than any thank you or goodnight greetings. This pathetic place doesn't even serve a water bottle. Seriously the worst ever place for a dine in experience. Would have complained to the manager but that lady herself doesn't come across responsive. I'd give a negative star if there was an option. I travel many places and write review but this is by far the most pathetic place with respect to customer service. Not sure how are they surviving with absolute no etiquettes of hospitality. Never coming back again.
Review based on experiences accumulated through many visits here. As far as the food goes, some of the items taste good compared to most of the Indian restaurants that we have tried in this area. However, service is pathetic. The serving staff (depending on who) can be polite and courteous but the owner/lady seems pretty rude. Never seen her greet even once or show any courtesy (even when we were the only ones getting our food and she sat right in front with no greetings) and on few occasions can hear her yellings.. extremely awkward. Usual wait times seem to be 30-45 mins, orders arriving at different timings for the same table. We ordered together, and I ended up waiting and waiting while my partner was long done eating since his was served much before. So it deafeted the entire purpose of coming to dine in together. It's just like a food joint without any restaurant etiquettes or any care for...
Read moreI dine out often as I enjoy dining out for my pleasure. I have eaten at this place many times, my first dining experience was just fine and I continued to eat at this place and hoping they will improve their service and quality of food. Each time I went to eat there, It was not a pleasant experience and tried to talked to person at the counter, I was ignored and was given an attitude. This time I went there on Sunday June 22, 2014 in the late evening hours.I ordered my Appetizer and my Main course with request to have my Appetizer before my main course. I waited about 25 minutes for my food to arrive, the worst part was my main course was served to me before my appetizer. I asked the server about my appetizer which he did not have any clue about my order. He went to the kitchen to find out about my Appetizer, came back in few minutes to inform me it will take some time, I asked him to cancel the appetizer since I had my main course before me. I explained to the server, if i wait for my appetizer to arrive and consume by then my main course would be cold as Ice. I started to eat my main course, 10 minutes later waiter came back with appetizer. i asked him to take it back because I cancelled and did not want to eat. sent back again ans server returned again with appetizer and said " the owner says this how we serve and i must accept and respect-their policy!" I got upset and and asked the server take it back or dump it. After finishing my unpleasant meal went to the counter to speak with the owner.m Lady was arrogant, rude, defensive and was not ready to accept any criticism, suggestions and complaints. I got my refund by pursuing her. I will never go back there. Please use your own judgement to to dine at this place. This is my experience...
