I never knew I was looking for a place like Poke Oasis. I didn’t know I needed the amazing, unique and fun experience named, PokeOasis. Joon, the owner, has done what many strive to do in the food world, he has created food sensory bliss.
What to expect: This intelligent little Poke Oasis is situated in Burlington, WA and is well worth the trip. When I walked in, I was blown away by the vibe. Off to the left there is a cool gaming spot with a video game setup ready to go! To the right there is a huge touch screen kiosk, where you can order your food! It’s probably the most authentic experience The Typical Tourist can have in the states. Don’t worry though, Joon is quick and eager to help with the experience if the kiosk is overwhelming. This area has so many historical sites to see, island hopping and shopping. I’d recommend Poke Oasis to people on first dates, girls night out, guys night out and absolutely a very fun family experience. Adults and kids alike will have a blast at Poke Oasis.
About the food: This is NOT fast food but my food was brought out in a very rational order seamlessly and within 5 minutes. I had my first dish, seaweed salad, followed by bubble tea. The seaweed salad was absolutely the freshest seaweed salad I can remember on record. The bubble tea was absolutely delicious. I opted for the exploding boba… so good. Next dish with the Poke combo was the miso soup, again an absolute home run. Within a couple minutes the Pork Gyoza hit the table and I could not put them down. Absolutely loved the thin crispy exterior of these dumplings. It’s weird to say, the crunch actually had a taste to it. Over the top pork dumplings without a doubt. I was not aware of portion size … I ordered a salmon eel combo sushi. Both were extremely delicious and the eel was absolutely tasty and fresh as was the salmon. Now for the Poke! I asked for the #10 Sumotori Bento and let me just prep you… go hungry! This Poke bowl is absolutely everything you could ask for in this style of food. The fish was incredibly fresh, the rice was absolutely fluffy and smelled fragrant. Any veggies or fruit in the Poke bowl was freshly cut and the presentation was a work of art.
Joon has created quite the experience. The entire visit was just about as much flavor as you could possibly dream up. Joon has taken a classic sushi and fun Poke food, blended them up to make a very, very modern feel and taste of what Asian food can be… at the next level. Joon and his family also create food for the not so sushi minded food seekers. I’m pretty sure Joon can make whatever it is your heart desires. I for one have a desire to eat my delicious Poke Oasis leftovers. The Typical Tourist will be MORE than pleased with Poke...
Read moretl;dr This is frankly one of the best places to dine at. Deserved 5/5.
Hiya! My mom and I wanted to leave our review with you guys. Jun's (excuse me for getting your name wrong) a fantastic host and was able to ease my mom's first poke experience into what'll be a fantastic palette for her taste buds. Me being somewhat experienced with poke bowls, I was absolutely floored by the selection and how it tasted (read about that later). Thanks so much for being an utter delight to us and so considerate too!
As for the atmosphere, we definitely took the time to take it all in. From the gaming station setup (loving the Street Fight joycon) to the trinkets and doodads all over the place and finally, the overall vibe felt like fresh air to us. Even got tempted to snag me a keychain, love the lil' fella! It's such a welcoming environment where you can take the time and enjoy your food. Also, good tastes in music as well!
Now onto the food, I ain't no food critic when I say this... but I am amazed by its deliciousness has it crept in my mouth, until it finally reached its destination. Despite it being a poke bowl, each ingredient and choices I've made has been spectacular and interwovened in such a way that any poke appreciator would have a thrill making their own bowl.
These are words from my mom. You are one the best places she has ever had the pleasure of dining from. Your place deserves its praises and no doubt you'll see us again in the near future. Even if we had to drive all the way from Seattle up to you guys! You guys have a way of serving me a vegetarian-focused bowl with the right combination of food! I cannot simply wait to try out your vegetarian/vegan musubi!
As for the takeout, we ordered 2 chicken udon soup and my little brothers devoured their portions with ease! The musubi with eggs slap pretty hard too! You knocked it outta the park with your food, atmosphere and service!!
All in all, definitely an affordable place for the food we've gotten.
From us to you, we want you guys to have all the success in the world. We'll be sure to drive all the way up to you guys to dine at your comfy establishment in the...
Read moreWe love this place! The food is super yummy. The preset bowls are based on popular sushi rolls like California Rolls and the choose-your-own bowls come in 3 sizes, so you can get exactly what and how much you want.
My only two bits of feedback are that 1) the order kiosk doesn't seem to have a way to review and edit what you ordered. Once it's in, it's in. So be careful before you add it to your order!
And 2) while the service we got, overall, was outstanding, the woman working the day we were there was super unhelpful when it came to following up on a drink order I put in. The owner had taken the order and I paid in cash, so there was no record of my drink order in the system. When I asked her to check with the owner any 20 minutes or soater, she shrugged and did nothing. Fortunately the owner came back up front 15 minutes later, and I got my drink. Not a huge deal, but it definitely dampened my enthusiasm for...
