I've eaten here a couple of times and had take out couple of times. The last time we ate there was on a Sunday evening and they were pretty busy. There were 5 of us in our party. We had planned to eat at a different Mexican restaurant but they were closed due to Covid. That may have been a factor in the quality of the food and service.
Actually, the service was okay, but they were serving the meals erratically, not table, by table but one person from one table would get served and then one person from a different table would get served, etc. So the first person at our table was completely finished by the time the last person received their food. I don't think that's the server's fault. However, it was a long wait and they didn't refill our water glasses at all.
That brings me to the food. I do find their salsa mild and tasty. The chips are ok. I ordered a "deluxe" tostada without sour cream and it had to be the most pathetic tostada I have ever seen, especially for a "deluxe". The most deluxe thing about it was the amount of lettuce that covered the entire plate so you couldn't see the one small flat tortilla shell on the bottom, or the minute smear of refried beans on top I the tortilla. The next layer was a mixture of watery sauce and tiny bits of ground beef over the beans and tortilla making everything super soggy. Then came the lettuce that was piled on and the tiniest amount of cheese shreds I've ever seen scattered over the lettuce (I probably could count the individual shreds on one hand. Then to top everything off was a dollop of flavorless quacamole. I tried adding salsa and Chalupa sauce to give it more flavor, but then it was even a soggier mess. It wasn't just my dish that was unsatisfactory, every adult at our table complained about the meat portion of their meal. The chicken in the one kids meal that was ordered looked good, but I can't say how it tasted.
I have eaten here other times where the chili relleno was okay, but again had a watery, rather tasteless sauce rather than a rich, full flavored sauce that didn't soak through the outer coating. I ended up adding the salsa from the chips to give it more flavor, but again it made it even soggier. I don't like giving negative reviews based on on experience especially during Covid. The servers were working hard to get the food out as it was prepared, it's just the food was being prepared in a very disjointed manner. The meats, sauces, quacamole and presentation need...
Read moreI thought it was a nice restaurant. When I got there, there was a line but we expected that since the reviews were pretty good of the place. The service is ok, the seating server had most of us sitting and waiting for tables, when a couple came in they were automatically offered a table on the bar side which she didn't mention to my party and we are all over 21. We saw that and had to ask if we could go on that side and she took us over and seated us after about 10 minutes of waiting. We ordered food which was alot big plates of food for the price we paid we were surprised. Food came out quick! I forgot the meal name I had. But it was a wet burrito, and the meat was really prepped, tender and juicy which is surprising because most wet type burros I've had in a restaurant is usually overcooked and thrown into a burrito hoping the sauce would soften uo the meat which most cases... It doesnt. So yeah it was great! The actual server was a nice lady who also made our drinks and came to our table often, we normally judge a hispanic restaurant by its carne asada plate and... It passes! With flying colors it was REALLY GOOD. Main reason for a 4 star! Almost made me forget the seating server who didn't pay attention to peoples ages and seat them properly. But other then that the food we had was great, the waitress server was awesome, the random waiters that wasn't my waiter still helped us despite it being semi busy which is awesome, overall good place to eat! Just mention you're 21 and get a seat then to wait for a regular table...
Read moreI’ve eaten inside the restaurant and ordered takeout, both are great options.
•Express Burrito 4.5/5: choice of meat, side of rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce. A personal favorite since the protein is in the burrito and rice + beans are on the side.
•Taco Salad 3.5/5: choice of meat, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, served in a crispy house-made shell. Chicken’s delicious, not watery like some restaurants. Loaded with chicken, but we found ourselves missing beans, so we’d ask if they can do half and half next time.
•Veggie Burrito 3.25/5: green bell peppers, onions, rice and beans inside the burrito, smothered in burrito sauce. For $17, we were disappointed rice and beans weren’t served on the side.
•Tepic Burrito 3/5: choice of meat, cheese, rice, whole beans (I asked for refried, they happily accommodated). Pico de gallo, lettuce, guacamole and sour cream. I don’t recall reading it’d be smothered in salsa verde, which isn’t my thing, so I scraped as much off as I could.
•Chorizo Burrito 4.75/5: cousin’s favorite.
•Chicken Taco 3.5/5: good snack or for small appetites. Fresh, flavorful, just $3.
•Macho Burrito (Chicken) 4/5: loaded with shredded chicken, topped with lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, rice & beans.
Generous portions, depending how hungry you are, meals are easily shareable.
Thanks for great service and yummy food, Tepic,...
