(Updated 1/2022) We’ve been super disappointed with Bill’s lately. Understandably a lot of restaurants have been affected by the supply chain, but Bill’s is kinda a disaster. If you call ahead to check if they have a menu item, you will be told something different when you arrive - and there’s a very good chance you’ll also find the actual menu item has been changed or restructured.
Even prior to “the events” that have occurred in the world of late, their wing menu was a mess. Most people understand that the more wings you buy in quantity, the cheaper per wing price you should pay. But not at Bill’s. They didn’t offer anything above a 30 piece when I called (I needed 50) and told me it would have to be rung up as two 20s and a 10 - which significantly raised the price per wing to more expensive than the 30. Regardless, we always call ahead now before getting wings (though I will never do a large order through them again) and are 50/50 on whether they even have them, but if they do, they no longer allow you to order anything over an 8 piece MEAL. You cannot order 12 wings. You cannot order 20 wings. You cannot even order 8 wings, unless you order it as the full meal with fries and a drink. The liberties they take with always changing the menu make it unreasonably complicated to order here with a larger family or group so we no longer find ourselves stopping by or recommending them to friends. There are better options that don’t require so much legwork just to order when you like off the (unchanging) menu. I’ll update again if we stop by sometime without it being a giant headache.
(Posted May 2021) I am so glad we finally tried bills burgers! The location is perfect to dine with young kids, as the outdoor seating is very accommodating space-wise. The access to the walking path along the creek below is also great for an after dinner stroll. My favorite is their veggie burger and sides of fries/onion rings. Their prices are reasonable and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to eat out as a family with...
Read moreThis restaurant has many opportunities for improvement and our experience was mixed. From the menu to outdoor seating, places like this typically get just one chance to wow visitors, and we left disappointed.
The good: We very much enjoyed the customer service, quick ordering and speedy kitchen. Our order was accurate and hit our table hot and fast. When we asked for additional dipping sauce, the request was immediately filled. Fountain drinks were adequately bubbly. The burgers were ample and the serving size was plentiful.
The not-so-good: Our issues centered primarily around cleanliness, and what appeared to be a lack of disorganization or preparation. We understand this is a straightforward, uncomplicated restaurant frequented by locals that grills burgers, but noted opportunities for improvement.
— The breading on the fried pickles was not thoroughly cooked; tasted like sand. — Greasy, sticky floors. Is there a larger concern with facility/kitchen ventilation, or is it a lapse in cleaning oversight? Unsure. — Propane for the outdoor heaters would have been useful on a chilly day. Being told the propane had run out like we just needed to accept it was frustrating. — The employee-only side door directly across the swinging gate needs a dampener to stop the deafening crash that occurs whenever it opens and closes. Employees should be cognizant about customers on the patio. — Speaking of the patio layout, why do employees take their breaks at tables next to customers eating food? Somewhat inappropriate to be within earshot of bickering, complaining or details about what so-and-so is doing tonight. — Milkshakes missing from the menu? No fried mushrooms? Please consider adding and revamping.
Overall, we chose this spot because of the outstanding reviews, but ultimately found food that did not impress. We may not return for a while, but look forward to the day...
