Read moreFood is good. Treatment of staff by management? Not good. I've never heard of a restaurant that punishes its staff for its customers mistakes but that's exactly what I was told happens when people call and place orders and they don't get picked up. Apparently the wait staff have to pay for them which doesn't make sense so either the staff is getting really mistreated or they're lying to make people feel bad. I mistakenly called and placed an order at the wrong Coney Island and was told I wasn't allowed to place it at this location since I placed it there, even though I called the other location and apologized and cancelled my order telling them that I called the wrong place (which they were totally fine with.) I couldn't drive to the location that I place the order with originally so I just called and cancelled and they seem fine with that. The waitress I was speaking to had to ask her manager if it was okay for me to place an order and then ask me what the other Coney Island had to say on the phone. When I told her they said it was fine she explained to me that they had to pay for placed orders that were not picked up. Now if you've ever worked in the food industry you'll know that orders get placed and not picked up often. There is a lot of food waste in general at restaurants, sometimes the staff even gets to eat it or take it home. Her telling me that management makes them pay was either lie to make me feel bad so that I wouldn't do it again or an abuse of power by management. Management shouldn't be able to do that. Saying "somebody has to pay for it" and punishing staff...
Read moreWe have been coming to starlight for over a year every time it's been a great experience except for today. Either shrinkflation has gone through the roof are the wait staff is clueless. We both ordered club sandwiches. We wanted to share the basket side of fries for almost $4. They brought us a plate the size of a coffee saucer. This would be maybe appropriate if it was just a side of fries that came with the sandwich for the dollar something up charge, but absolutely not okay to be considered as a side of fries to be shared as a basket of fries. We were told verbatim what when we don't have the right size plates we bring you whatever size plates we have and that's the amount you get?????? That is the most ridiculous answer I have ever received in 45 years of being alive!!!! If this is truly how you run this business, the customer only gets the size that fits whatever random dish that you have sitting around that's clean? Completely...
