I was very disappointed with my experience at Boudreaux’s BBQ, a new restaurant in Canon City. I went there with my mom who loves ribs, but we were told that they were not ready and we had to wait for an hour. The fan was so loud that we could barely hear each other and enjoy our conversation. The food was cold and bland, and the portions were small and overpriced. I paid $18 for a pulled pork plate that had the heel of the bread, and another $18 for a brisket plate that had only three slices of meat, a slice of white bread and a tiny side. The beans were $5 for a small cup. I felt ripped off and unsatisfied. The only shining light in the experience was our server, and she tried so hard to apologize for all these things that seemed to go wrong, but it felt like this is something that she has to apologize for quite a bit, we tipped her extremely well, because it wasn’t her fault. I also did not appreciate the pre-wrapped packs of plastic silverware, and napkins. What a waste for the environment. I do not recommend this place at all. Save your money and time and go somewhere else.

The first time I went to this place the food was a little old (i.e. not served fresh) but was still really good. It was really juicy and full of marinade. I didn't use any BBQ sauce to eat the meats because they were both really good on their own and I thought the BBQ sauce would actually detract from it. The beans were really good as well (they had little chunks of meat in them that were really tasty). The mac and cheese was also among some of the better ones I have had, especially from a BBQ place. The second time was not as impressive. I was able to do a 1/2 and 1/2 plate of brisket and pulled pork the first time, but the second time the waitress told me I couldn't, and the brisket was nothing special. The mac and cheese was also not that special, especially compared to the first time I had it. The jalapeño sausage was really good, however. It was probably the best one I've ever had; it practically melted in my mouth. They offer two BBQ sauces (a regular and hot version). I preferred the regular version, but neither of them are worth raving about.

Followed our noses from 5th street, and unfortunately, they were out of everything except brisket so we didn't get to try those. We ordered a brisket plate and brisket baked potato with the last cheddar jalapeño sausage. We are from Texas and this establishment is Louisiana style (assuming from decor). Brisket was a bit dry and needed the sauce which was nice and earthy. Coleslaw was not too sweet and fresh, and the Bacon baked beans were sweet, earthy, and delicious. I ended up putting the baked beans on top of my brisket baked potato which I enjoyed. It wasn't too hot but had plenty of toppings for it being huge (we split it). The sausage we hated, was starchy like it was mostly filled with overcooked beans (no grease, no meat texture, no flavor).

Me and my friends were in town for the Royal Gorge Route Railroad and were looking for a highly rated restaurant to eat at after the train ride. We found Boudreaux's and boy, the ratings did not lie!

First thing I noticed was the ambience. It was a nice, familiar southern vibe that I wasn't expecting to see in Colorado. Apologies in advance for not remembering names but, we were greeted by our server who was extremely friendly. She was prompt and attentive to our whole group. We put in our orders, I ordered the Loaded Baked Potato with Brisket, Loaded Mac & Cheese with Brisket and Baked Beans. Being that I consider myself not to be the biggest BBQ fan, not liking super smoky flavor, I was skeptical... I was very pleasantly surprised.

Before getting to the food, I want to touch briefly on the owner and grill master of Boudreaux's. Again, very sorry I cannot remember his name but, after we spoke with him, I couldn't have been more eager to try his BBQ. He told us a little about his past and his experience in BBQ. He let us know that the larger racks of ribs weren't quite ready and brought out some "smaller" racks that were ready. These didn't seem small to me and my friends said that they were excellent. His passion in his craft is very admirable and reassuring that we came to the right place.

I don't have anything to compare this brisket to as it is the first time I've had brisket but, I know that this was some damn good brisket. It was juicy, full of flavor and the "burnt" parts were surprisingly sweet. The beans were delicious with a nice sweetness. The Mac & Cheese was nice and creamy. The portions were definitely more than enough. All of it was great!

I paid cash and I am writing this review a few days later so, I can't quite remember how much I paid - I know it wasn't pricy - and I'd absolutely pay it again!

Thank you Boudreaux's for your hospitality and delicious BBQ! I wish you...

I went to Boudreaux's BBQ for a reunion with old work friends. We ordered a large variety of their menu. The food was amazing. Brisket was tender and juicy with great bark, Pulled pork was good, ribs were cooked to perfection (Pulled away with a bite, but not fall off the bone.) Given the crippled economy the price points for all of the items is about what to be expected. Price is overall high but you do get your money's worth for the main courses. For appetizers we got smoked mac and cheese and nachos. Quality of these items are great, and they are delicious. That being said the amount of food that the appetizer has on it for the cost of the appetizer seems low, particularly the smoked mac an cheese. I mean its smoked mac and cheese... we are in America... if you asked me what size I would want it would be a horse trough. Particularly this mac an cheese because of how tasty it is.

It was a Sunday afternoon and the atmosphere is what you want out of a BBQ place. The focus is the food, and the people you are with. We ate outside under the awning, and I felt like I was in my backyard. No crazy décor just plane good "here is what we do" attitude. Loved it.

Our waitress was cheerful and a peach to talk to. I do feel that she was not expecting a larger group on a Sunday and there was some confusion with the sides. Everything could be resolved at the table though.

I really hope this place succeeds, Canon has a sub par food scene at best. This place is a gem and I want it...
