Cheryl's Diner — Restaurant in Cabot

I had been highly recommended to Chreyl's so I went at noon on a weekday. It was very crowded and the noise was like dishes continually crashing. I was seated immediately in the front of the dining room by the plate glass window overlooking the parking lot. I asked for a menu and the lady screamed something to me about where the menu was. Where it was was on the other side of a column by the window. She politely offered to tell me what was on it. I couldn't hear her so to get things moving I took the first thing she said which was small tough chunks of pork in a paste of rice. I asked for mashed potatoes and greens on the side. The rice pork dish was inedible as were the cold potatoes. The chunks of pork were tough and tasteless. The potatoes tasted like they had been mixed with water. The greens were excellent, how could they mess them up. At the checkout a man who I guessed was the owner did not bother to ask me how I enjoyed my meal. I would have been happy to tell him to go back to my table and eat it. I wondered if all those people were there to eat burgers, something that I went there to avoid. 3/5/2025 Today was a far better experience with the kindness of people and improvement of food. Today I enjoyed a cheeseburgerr and french fries ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I would like to start off by saying I use to have a five-star review for this place.

Due to my most recent experience, the food quality has seemed to dwindle severely. Not sure what has happened or hasn't happened but it's definitely noticeable.

Chicken fried steak seemed as it was without flavor. The mashed potatoes served come out cold and had to be instant potatoes. And the gravy serve the top was I have a thicker substance but lacks flavor.

My waitress however, was very friendly, helpful and efficient. She deserves 5 stars.

Now the sad part

The lady that checks you out is very cruel, rude and quite frankly co.es across as hateful attitude she believes is friendly.

She seems to look down on people who are up on hard times..

We were in Cabot for a high school dance competition. My wife and I love small town cafes and after the competition we did a search to see if there were any local cafes or diners in Cabot. We found a few but Cheryl's stood out with the great reviews so we decided to give it a try. Wow, what a great place! The staff treated us like we were family. Our server was a great guy who I was told was the son of the owners. He made it really fun and really waited on us hand and foot. We had a big group of 9 and man, the food was fantastic.

I personally had a homemade burger made with fresh ground beef and a bowl of tators as they called it. Small potato chunks with fried onions, oh yeah soooo good! Wow everything was so delicious. We just had so much fun! Everyone's food was really tasty and portion sizes were just right. I wish we had this place local to us, you Cabot folks are lucky to have such a place.
