Del Taco — Restaurant in Caldwell

We looked forward to the Caldwell store opening, we're terribly disappointed. Our first visit was the drive thru, very slow. Next visit was inside, acceptable but not great. Our most recent was July 14, what a fiasco. To start my wife ordered a Hamburger, a girl came from the back and stated the buns were frozen so they couldn't do hamburgers, 15 seconds in a microwave would have done the trick. I suspect there was another reason such as the grill was cleaned and they didn't want to dirty it. She ordered Loaded Nachos instead. They had enough jalapenos to make me sweat let alone the average customer. My Taco Salad was OK, not great. When I went to get Salsa there was none in the Mild container so I used the Hot and yes it was hot. I also tried the Mild sauce dispenser and you guessed it, EMPTY. The sad part is one of the employees even checked the condiment bar while we were there but nobody refilled the empty containers. My Granddaughter ordered Mini Churros, they were so loaded with cinnamon sugar they were nearly impossible to eat. Tapping them on the table to knock some off left a pile large enough to coat another batch. Quality Control is definitely lacking. While we were ordering one of the back people was leaning on the front counter as if he were bored with nothing to do. After finishing our meals we noticed four employees in the parking lot smoking and jokin' until a car went to the drive up and they all returned to work. This is not the way to run a business. Sadly they won't be open long if this continues. Many of the comments I've seen that rate highly are bogus, probably posted by employees trying to make their store look good. Don't...

You know when you leave something on the stove unattended for a bit too long because you forgot about it? Then when you get back to the stove you see the food is burning... But some of it still looks good right? You save the stuff that looks "fine" because you don't want the whole thing to be wasted... Yeah, that's what they served us. Visually unburnt, but actually burnt beans.

I can't imagine how many people went through the drive-thru, got home, and attempted to eat that - only to be home and not going to complain and return their food.

What a scam.

This is the second time I've been here and received 2 day old refried french fries.

If you look at the grill in the back. It looks like it hasn't actually been cleaned or scraped from the day before. I can only imagine what the meat tastes like - I only get bean burritos and fries.

Anyways. Steer well clear. I know I will.

This place has poor practices. They're willing to repeatedly send out poorly handled food.

They never get the meals right you have to tell them what it includes or they literally won’t add all the ingredients to certain meals or give you all the items. I’ve ordered the street taco Plato meal and they never give you the chips and salsa it’s suppose to come with unless you tell them. Two times they gave me the complete wrong meal. Another couple times they forgot to add key ingredients that make a street taco, a street taco. Some of the employees seem to have no knowledge or guidance on the food they are serving or how to put it together. Too many inconsistent experiences so I stopped going here. Shame, proper management and training could turn this place around but I won’t be back
