After a long 9 hour drive from Seattle my dad and I decided to treat ourselves to a meal. Shortly after entering the building we were told my task trained medical alert service dog needed an ID and vest (I forgot her vest in Seattle so I could not just go back and get it. I explained the law about the Americans with Disabilities Act not requiring a vest or ID). The host went back to get the owner/manager which is normally where the issue gets resolved. He looked at my service dog and approached her with his hand out. She stood up from a sit, took ONE STEP forward not even sniffing or greeting him to which I told her “heel, sit” and she immediately complied (as she has been a task trained medical alert service dog for my heart and genetic condition for 4 years). She had been kenneled for almost the full 9 hours so it would make sense for her to make a small simple harmless mistake (as she is a service dog, not a robot). The ADA only states they must be under control, which she was. She came back to my side and stayed focused on me the next several minutes. The owner then insisted she was a support dog, not a service dog, and he knew the difference. When I asked him if he could ask me the two legal questions to determine if she was a service dog he did not know what they were and just continued insisting “that is a support dog, not a service dog”. I answered the questions without him asking: that she was a service dog task trained for a disability, and what her tasks were. I even disclosed my disability which is illegal for them to need to know!! I just wanted to eat! He proceeded to insist “a service dog wouldn’t have done that and she doesn’t even have a vest” I replied with “she wouldn’t have… stood up?” Then he responded “service dogs don’t act like that, if she was a service dog she’d be at your side focused on you” to which I gestured to her doing just that, as she had been every other time besides those literal TWO seconds. I showed him a photo of her in her vest and he covered the screen saying “I know. I don’t want to make this a big deal” we agreed and left. The whole way out my dog was heeling perfectly and focusing, he looked terrified. My dad later went in to confirm he KNEW he was breaking a law to which he said “no I don’t understand” when my dad asked if he could show him which laws he was in violation of to which he denied. We gave him several opportunities to learn and he did not. My dad said he looked scared and was sweating bullets the whole time. We have also learned this has happened to 4 other service dog teams, and they have been stared at, ridiculed, and singled out. I have over 200 references to my dogs exceptional behavior, training and legitimacy. Including professional trainers, professional show handlers, professional groomers, my medical professionals, community members, and other pet owners. This was illegal and cruel behavior to someone who has already been through the trauma of severe health issues, and can only safely be in public with her medical alert dog. Disappointing and downright unacceptable behavior straight from the...
Read moreThe food was pretty good, fresh and tasty. My husband got the bbq salad with chicken, the chicken was not good and slimy, maybe use the fried chicken you have? Or freshly cook the chicken each time. Either way our service was terrible. The young lady while polite and pleasant in demeanor was absent minded, inattentive, forgetful and a very poor listener none of which are good traits to find in a waitress especially not all together. First, she didn’t even know their menu, when I asked how much their cocktails are she referred me to the drink menu that doesn’t list the prices then said $3 maybe $4 which is cheaper than what they were listed for on. E happy hour menu so probably inaccurate. I ordered a drink which came 30 minutes later after we were almost finished eating. She came to our table 4 times and never refilled drinks even when asked, I don’t think she heard us. I got a salad with my meal and it was delivered on the fly as it slammed down onto the table and slid over to me as she walked by. I had asked for my dressing to be on the side, it was not. I had to ask for a booster seat twice , silver wear, menus, If they even had a kids menu, she then left the menus on our table and brought silver wear for 6 when there were only three of us counting the toddler. I will say I told her she gave us terrible service and she took it gracefully and stated she appreciated the feedback and I did not pay for the drink since it took so long to...
Read moreStewart's has a lovely outdoor dining area in the back that is unseen from the road, quiet and relaxing. Waitstaff is very courteous and friendly . Food was ample and well prepared and served in good time. The menu has a very good selection of appetizers and main courses. Delicious desserts and a nice list of cocktails And Wines. The au jus was the best I've been served, taste like it Was from their prime rib with a hint of smokiness. The strawberry lemonade was fresh and delicious. For my taste the Calimari was breaded beautifully but bland Being saved by the clever spicy sweet sauce it is served with . My French dip was very good but Lean on meat. The onion rings are very large and impressive on the plate but difficult to eat without falling apart. The prices start around 10$ and can go quite high for my Personal wallet, but fair for the quality of the food. I would say most people would find something they can afford and enjoy. There is an area where the children are able to run around a little and a few games to play without interfering with the tables. I only passed through the inside but it looked very comfortable and well decorated kind of a pub-style feel to it. I would say Stewart's is a good place to eat on your own or with family and friends. It would also be a very nice place to...
