First time diners at Max's Bistro. We were actually scouting this place out, in order to bring out-of-town guests for a nice meal. My Brother and I were NOT disappointed! We had 6pm reservations and showed up 10 minutes early. We were greeted promptly by a nice young lady (hostess) with purple hair. She led us to our table right away. Support Staff were right behind her with water glasses, bread (with a balsamic vinaigrette dipping sauce), dinner menus, and the beverage list. Michelle (our Server) dropped by soon thereafter with a description of the evening's specials. She also took our "adult beverage" order. When our drinks arrived, Michelle took our order. We ordered the Fry Trio for both of us (Truffle Fries with the Sriracha dipping Sauce was THE BOMB)! I ordered the Kale Caesar Salad (excellent) and the Kobe Meatloaf Dinner, which came with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes (exceptional). My Brother ordered the Strawberry Spinach Salad and one of the evening's specials, a 12 ounce Prime New York Steak (medium doneness), which came with Asparagus and Mashed Potatoes (he loved it). Our appetizer, salads, and main courses were all delivered by courteous and attentive support staff. We NEVER had a water glass go empty either. After our meal, Michelle offered us a delicious-looking Dessert Menu. But, we were too stuffed to take that leap. Michelle had our leftovers boxed and bagged up (not much left to box up). Max's atmosphere, ambience, and attentive staff made our dining experience a VERY GOOD ONE. We will be back, with our...

Max's Bistro is a casual and comfortable restaurant in Fresno, California, that serves up delicious California-bistro fare. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with beautiful decor and plenty of seating. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they are always happy to help you choose the perfect dish and wine pairing. The menu at Max's Bistro features a variety of dishes, all made with fresh, local ingredients. Some of the popular items include the brussels sprouts, potstickers, pork chop, chicken Marcella, and bread pudding. I recently had the opportunity to dine at Max's Bistro for the first time, and I was very impressed. I started my meal with the brussels sprouts and potstickers. The brussels sprouts were roasted to perfection and tossed in a delicious balsamic glaze. The potstickers were also very good, with a crispy wrapper and a flavorful filling. For my main course, I ordered the pork chop. It was huge! I couldn't finish it all, but it was cooked perfectly and very juicy. My wife ordered the chicken Marcella, and she also enjoyed her meal. For dessert, we had the bread pudding. It was amazing! It was warm and gooey, with a delicious caramel sauce. Overall, I had a great experience at Max's Bistro. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Fresno

Read moreThe Restaurant was busy, I did not mind the wait. I was however disappointed in the quality of our food. Our deviled eggs were grainy. The Plating was messy. The entree which was Chilean sea bass did not seem as if it met the quality that the restaurant is known for. The flesh was under seasoned. The flakes of flesh had a slime layer. The flesh was also pungent. The plate was not served hot which I’m not sure was intentional. The polenta that came with the fish was absolutely bland. There was a film of oil over the polenta. I could see whatever was cooked in the polenta had separated. The spinach it was served with was not great either, I doubt it was salted. It was a lump of cold leaves besides the fish. I had also ordered a Caesar salad and my partner the wedge salad which came chopped. The chicken that was served on the salad was dry, it resembled freezer bag chicken tenders you find in a grocery store. The pine nuts in the salad did not achieve the consistency they were attempting as some were rock solid like gravel and some soft. The other salad was incredibly dry served with a lemon wedge and raw red onions. I don’t mind that I was seated on a table pushed against a wall; I also didn’t mind the construction paper covering the wine stain on our table. I’m just sad the food was below expectation for as beautiful as Max’s Bistro is inside. They need to really focus on...
