We have come by quite a few times but this is a first review. Obviously, there is a healthy supply of fish, shrimp and fries to order in various combinations. We mainly do the fish and chips. It's tasty! The atmosphere can change with the days of the week, especially in summer time. Quite often have even enjoyed a live band on mid-day Sundays there furing Summer. Expect to wait a little when ordering mid-day on a Summer weekend. But go on a Monday at 4 and nooo problem. They also have his and hers restrooms for customers. Get a token at the counter as they are locked. The staff. Generally are very friendly! I've read some low reviews here and I don't see those attitudes described, but don't expect alot of chatty when the order line is long. Any mistake with food that has happened to me, and I've had 3 or 4 after this time, is corrected with no attitudes and quickly. I don't drink these days but the beer sizing looks very large. The food portions are moderate. There often is cookies, ice cream and brownies as treats also available. It's obviously set on the end of a pier over the ocean, so the sea and sunsets are amazing. I've seen dolphins out there too on occasion. I have a 3 year old I take there for an adventure and fries and it's always a kid friendly view to watch people fishing and people watch in general. Go and try it out. Thumbs up. Ps. I've posted photos of entire menu selection as on 7/31/2023

Although a San Diego native, this is my first visit to this part of IB and my first visit to Tin Fish. Luis, a young employee working alone all morning, cooked my order of a clam chowder bowl and fish and chips (rare order outside for me) just right. Clean food and oil is key! My husband and I come from large families of chefs and cooks, my own young son being one. I watched as orders came in before mine, and customers didn't seem to have, or care to give, the understanding of his situation. However, after enjoying their meals outside, many came back in to compliment him on their orders. Through all of it, Luis always flashes a smile of service and gratitude. Both his customer service and meal prep have my next visit already scheduled. Any time YOU'RE in the vicinity, take a stroll to the end of the pier and stop by Tin Fish for a refuel wih a view. Thank you, Luis!

We decided to walk down the Imperial Beach pier and try the Tin Fish restaurant. We ordered the 6 piece fish and chips. The breading on the fish is a cornmeal batter and it came with a small dish of Cole slaw and waffle fries. We eat out a lot, so we are kind of picky. This isn't our favorite style of fried fish, but it was decent, cooked well and a reasonable price. The fries looked to be frozen fries, but were crispy and cooked perfectly. Actually, it was a lot of food for the price. My husband and I shared the meal. The views were excellent and the dining area and pier were remarkably clean for a pier. Service was excellent. They were quirky and fun when they called our name over the intercom to come pick up our food at the window.

We were in Imperial Beach for a week, and we didn't realize Tin-Fish was at the end of the Pier until three days into our trip. We LOVE Tin-Fish, and we made sure to plan dinner before we headed home to Arizona. This location is at the end of the pier, and it's a walk, but it's worth watching the random people fishing and the ocean life as your walk to and from the restaurant. We have been to the Tin-Fish in Oceanside a dozen times when we travel there, and it's, of course, our favorite go-to to eat. Our kids love it, definitely kid friendly. The burgers are so flipping good!!!

Hubs and I are visiting from Wyoming on our honeymoon. We came to the Tin Fish on our first and last night in San Diego. I would have left 5 stars but both times that we visited they were out of the lobster Mac n cheese. However, the clam chowder in the bread bowl was absolutely amazing both times I had it. My husband had a cheese burger with the crinkle fries and again, both times, fantastic! It's a small but man do they make some darn good food! Thank you for making a part of our vacation memorable ❤️

Gave four stars due to there is no sign pointing in the direction of the restaurant. Navigation just says, arrived and out of the mini restaurants located in the same area. You have to figure out where this particular restaurant is located. Restaurant is located at the end of a fishing pier as you walk down people are catching and cleaning fish. Owner was very nice and attentive, food was really good, and is cooked to order. Plenty of outdoor seating on the pier limited inside seating.
