Wow! Our experience at Pizzeria Luigi in IB was absolutely awful. The level of customer service we received was undoubtedly one of the worst. Last night from the moment we walked in, it was clear that something was off. The lady behind the counter had an extremely rude demeanor. Even after my sister-in-law completed our order, I politely asked the cashier to confirm the total, as the menu on the wall displayed a different price. Shockingly, she completely ignored me, which was incredibly frustrating.
Eventually, my sister-in-law paid for our meal, but my concern was left unanswered. I decided to approach the cashier once more, hoping for a simple acknowledgment of my question. Instead, she curtly replied that the price discrepancy was due to toppings. It would have been helpful if the signage was clearer and more consistent. However, this interaction was just the tip of the iceberg.
After patiently waiting for our pizza and wings, my brother politely approached the counter, wearing a smile, and inquired about the status of our wings. To our astonishment, the same lady behind the counter rolled her eyes and disdainfully replied that they would come out when they were ready. The way she spoke to him was downright disrespectful. To make matters worse, we later discovered that our wings had been left sitting in a to-go bag on top of the reheating oven for an extended period.
But the nightmare didn't end there. After finishing our meal, my brother went to the restroom to wash his hands. When he requested the key, an employee informed him that if the restrooms were locked, they were in use. Understanding the situation, he patiently waited. However, when one of the restrooms became available, my brother gestured to keep the door open, so it wouldn't close immediately. Shockingly, an employee from the kitchen slammed the door shut and yelled at him, claiming that the restroom was for women only. It was a complete overreaction, and there were much better ways for her to handle the situation professionally.
And believe it or not, there's more. This was actually my third visit to this restaurant since moving here, and unfortunately, I must say that the font counter rudeness has been a recurring issue. Additionally, on two separate occasions, I witnessed a fly walking around on top of a pizza in the display case. This lack of cleanliness and attention to detail is simply unacceptable.
It truly baffles me why this restaurant has so many positive reviews. While I must admit that the food itself is good, the behavior and attitude of the staff overshadow any positive aspects. It's disheartening to see such potential wasted due to the consistently...
Read moreI’ve been to this Pizzeria Luigi several times over the last year. It’s a fun little place, but parking is sometimes difficult (even though there’s a free public lot adjacent!). I will say from the top that we’ve never had a problem when we dine in. But: takeout from there is like the rhyme about the little girl with the curl: when they’re good, they’re very, very good, but when they’re not, it’s awful. Tonight’s order was one of the worst we’ve had: the wings were made with a completely different flavor of sauce: honey mustard—which, of the two of us who eat wings, one won’t touch anything with mustard—instead of honey lizano. To make matters worse, of the 2 slices for the person who won’t eat honey mustard, only one was what they ordered, and the other was… not good. Between the jalapeños and the sriracha or whatever hot sauce it was, it was nicely spicy, but had no flavor. To pay almost $50 and still have one person out of three go hungry is not right. (To add insult to injury, we couldn’t even pay with our brand new Visa gift card, but I honestly can’t say that’s on them since we couldn’t figure out why the...
Read moreThe calzone is really good but not one-hour wait good. Sorry Luigi's. Tonight's service was a fail. We love this place but it wasn't a good experience tonight.
We called in our calzone order ahead of time and they told us its gonna be like 30 minutes. Which was fine since we still had to drive over. Go there, waited in line, ordered a couple slices, still no calzone. We finished our slice, still no calzone. One hour and five minutes after our phone order and it finally appears out the back, but only cause we asked where it was. Front service was slow and the line was crazy long. They really need two people up front.
And of course, once we got our calzone it was in a to go bag on a paper plate when we told them we were eating in. Not on a real plate with utensils like they normally serve in house. Do you know how hard it is to eat that on a freaking paper plate with plastic utensils?! Well I tried, then packed our food up and left since I by then lost my appetite. And to top it off, they didnt serve the side of marinara with our order. And it was burnt. Got home and tried...
