I went with coworkers and had a good time up until I went to the counter and purchased a "tall can" from the bar tender. I went back to my table like normal and continued to have a good time with my coworkers, a waitress aproched me because I had opened my tall can and started to drink from it. According to her I couldn't drink from it but I was never informed from the bartender about that. Another waitres aproched and told she could serve me some of my tall can in a glass cup until I left she could give me the left over. I agreed and she took away the tall can. An hour later I was about to leave and I aproched the same waitress that took my tall can and served it in a glass and I told her I was going to leave. She came back and returned the can and a few seconds later the so call manger comes and rips the can from my hand and tells me I can have that on the property. I politely told her I am about to leave but she let insiting I cannot have an open can in the property. I explained the situation but she kept disagreeing and pulled her "I'm the manager card" on me. I was trying to explain myself but she just kept saying she was the boss. Nothing I really said mattered to her. It's a shame, she and the same bartender that didn't tell me I could open and drink the same tall can kicked me out. She kept pulling that "I'm the manager card" and I left. Never again am I going to a Mike Hess or recommending to anyone I know. Worst service I have ever received, the so called manager was unwilling to understand me or my friend who tried to explain herself. If you work in a bar and have drunk costumers you should be "trained" properly to deal with them. I was drunk but not rude and explained myself but no. She "was right" my day was great, the hoppy hazy was my favorite but she ruined the night. Whatever manager worked today, 3-18-2022 from probably 7 PM and on sucks, she wasn't willing to understand, was impatient and for someone that's going to work in a place where there's drunk folk she...
Read moreI brought my family, who were visiting from out of town, to this place in the pre-Covid days when it was mainly sand and picnic tables and when you still had to go inside to place your order. The service and atmosphere was great back then. It was so laid back and family oriented. Now that my family is finally able to visit Imperial Beach again post-Covid they were so excited about the chance to go to Mike Hess Brewing. Unfortunately today's experience was not so great. Our family was seated in a dark street side cabana, where we didn't receive our entire order, and even though we flipped our card to green for "send server" we only saw a server when our order was placed and when our food was delivered. No one else came to check on us the rest of the evening except for another server who tried to give us someone else's order. We told her at that time that we were missing part of our order but after 20 minutes of waiting and still not receiving the rest of our order we went to speak to the staff inside. We were then told the items were no longer available and they apologized that we were never told that. When we asked for our check, the unavailable items were still on the bill! Of course we spoke to a manager to get our bill corrected and when we explained how we never received the items and weren't ever told they were no longer available, the manager didn't seem to care how bad our experience was nor did he offer any sort of discount on the bill for the inconvenience of us only getting part of our dinner. I am a long time resident of Imperial Beach and one thing I know for sure is I will not be recommending this place to anyone. I liked this place much better when the atmosphere was more laid back, family oriented and when the staff was more attentive to their paying customers. I gave two stars because the food was still just as delicious as it was the last time. Unfortunately the customer service deserved negative stars. Thanks,...
Read moreI am an avid cyclist. My regular ride is from Spring Valley to Imperial Beach, About 20.5 miles. I usually go to Cow-a-Bunga on the pier for my coffee drink. But they were closed due to maintenance. When that happens, I go to Mike Hess brewery. They have a coffee cart and a really nice facility. I am usually get there between 8:00 and 9:00 am. I always park my bike just inside the grounds leaning up against a planter that separates the facility for the sidewalk. They have these all the way around as they are on a corner. They have a lot of room and at that time in the morning, there isn't usually anyone else there. Most of their coffee customers are walkups that get a coffee and leave. But it is a nice place to relax and have my coffee and take a break. But today, for the first time, after dozens of visits over several years, they said no bike inside and I would have to park my custom handmade bike worth well over $10,000 (just the accessories on the bike are over $1000) out on the outside right on the sidewalk. I mean ON THE SIDEWALK, as their planters are right next to it. So if I did that, someone could just grap it and run while I am on the inside of the planters wearing my cycling cleated shoes which are impossible to run in. Now they do have a bike rack on the back of the facility behind a building completely out of sight. Avid cyclist almost never carry a bike lock that they would trust their multi-thousand dollar bike with as those locks are cumbersome to carry and very heavy . So a bike rack like that is useless for us. So we go to places where we can keep our bike close and in sight at all time. But apparently, Mike Hess is not interested in catering to my kind of customer, so I will not go where I...
