I don't know what happened up here but it's not the same. When we pulled up, there was plenty of parking. That should have been our first red flag. Because there was never any parking at this place..... Tony was outside and he was on the phone. He looked stressed and he looked sad like one of those sad puppets.... He also looks like he has lost a ton of weight..... There was no happy singing in the kitchen. No wonderful smells wafting out the door like they're usually was.....He barely acknowledged us, he knows who we are. We were regulars there when we worked on On the mountain. We weren't looking to be the star of the show. Just a simple hello would have been cool....He looked very stressed and very sad. ...........The food was beyond horrible. I left my plate and 3/4 of my drink. My husband was so disgusted with this food, he didn't even finish his plate. The chicken in my chicken taco tasted like Costco canned chicken with a little bit of seasoning. It was extremely salty and had a weird consistency..... My husband said he's beef tasted odd, like horse meat. He lived in Germany and they accidentally got someone there were there so unfortunately he knows what it tastes like....... It was really disgusting. They brought my plate to me. And you could tell they had thrown some cheese from a bag on it. They didn't even bother to put it under a light and melt it. My rice and beans were stone cold. It was just cold strings of cheese like you get out of a bag..... I asked them if they could warm it up for me a little bit... And when they brought back my plate, it was barely warm and it looked like my taco had been dropped on the floor it was all in a disarray.....My husband's plate had melted cheese. It had little brown spots in it. But his plate was stone cold.... The food was absolutely disgusting. The taco shells are no longer made there. They are prefab I could get that shit at home........ The service this fabulous. My drink was fabulous. But the food was no way Jose. We went cross the street to Goodwins deli to get some edible food because we were starving......We won't be back We were so disappointed!! They used to be fabulous.... What happened...
Read moreSo disappointed. First experience at this place was fantastic. Food and service was fantastic. We bragged about it to my boyfriends aunt and wanted to take her. Upon getting there we were seated after about maybe 20 mins which was no problem. It's a Sunday so I expected to wait longer. That's when it all went down hill. We ordered drinks and food immediately since we had already perused the menu while waiting. Chips and salsa came, drinks came and then after that point it was like we didn't exist. No one came to check on us or even say anything about a wait for over 40 mins. One person delivered an order to the wrong table and even after those people touched it they still took that touched food over to the right table. No remake. Just contaminated food taken to someone else. After 40 mins of being invisible we finally saw our waitress and asked how much longer it would be since we noticed people who came in after us receiving their orders. She said it would be out soon, we should be next, blah blah blah and disappeared again. After another 10+ minutes we asked the owner how much longer it would be. He disappeared to the back and came back a few minutes later. When I asked again how much longer it would be he completely ignored me. Another customer noticed my frustration and leaned over to inform me that she and her family had been waiting for over 2 hours for their food because they lost their ticket in the back. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. We left and went down to Crestline Cafe instead and it was amazing. Food and service were fantastic. I shared our experience with our waiter there and he said his first and only time eating at Toni's he got food poisoning....
Read moreA very extensive menu... On a first visit to any Mexican restaurant, I order a pork tamal, cheese enchilada, and chili relleno with rice and beans. I want to get a taste of the general basics. Their #51 combination plate was just that. To start, I actually liked the rice. That's rare for me. The beans were very average. The enchilada was rather tasteless. The tamal, equally so. The Relleno, on the other hand, was very good. I read somewhere, I believe on this site, that their margaritas were wine based. It's not my cup of tea, so I didn't order one. Instead, I ordered a Modelo. It was cold and refreshing. Then, I found out that they did, indeed, have tequila margaritas, and I ordered a "Pamarita". That's a margarita with an additional shot of pomegranate liquor - very, very good!! Service; It was dinner time on a Friday night and moderately busy. I was a single diner, with my dog, on their outdoor patio. It seemed like an eternity to even be acknowledged. Once the server arrived, she was pleasant and helpful. Although, in the course of the meal, she was rather non-existent. I even had to flag her down to get the check. Atmosphere was typical Mexican decor, quaint, but appropriate. "Live" music on the patio. It was a bit quirky, but nevertheless, somewhat entertaining. Because of the size of my combination plate, the beer and large margarita, my bill was $55, including a 20% gratuity. (I felt generous in spite of the mediocre service) The relleno, rice, and beverages saved this dining...
