We've been meaning to try The Haus Bistro for some time as we have heard good things about it, and we finally made it this evening. Let me just say, we were blown away! The food was absolutely AMAZING! I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel with spaetzle and red cabbage. The mushroom/onion gravy on the pork was the best I've ever had. My husband had the flat iron steak which came with potatoes and vegetables. He too was extremely happy with his meal. For desert, we shared the Banana Nut Bread Fosters. It was absolutely bursting with flavor, especially the spiced rum flavor. The only thing my husband complained about was the fact that we only ordered one dessert to share.
The restaurant looks very unassuming on the outside, but inside the decor is really nice and the restaurant is very inviting. Our server was friendly and attentive, and many of those dining seemed to be regulars that were familiar with the staff. We were fortunate to pick a night that they had a live blues band playing. The band was very good, and it really added to the atmosphere.
The prices were about right for a nicer sit-down restaurant $19 for the Jaeger Schnitzel and $28 for the steak.
Overall, we highly recommend The Haus Bistro, and we are already planning when we can go back again! It is by far the best restaurant we've eaten at since moving...
Read moreWe were looking for a place with an excellent menu, great beverage choices and dog friendly outdoor seating. The HAUS bistro did not disappoint. From their SoCal local beer selection, their cocktails, their great entrees and that amazingly flaky apple streusel this place hit everything out of the park. Locals seemed to frequent the place and while we were from out of town we felt very welcomed. The staff is courteous and professional and made our visit awesome. A note about the kitchen staff: I don't know what kind of scheme they're running back there but each of the plates we had were phenomenal. The orzo, the Salmon the fresh vegetables and my flat iron steak were all cooked to perfection. Honestly, the way they prepared the veggies blew me away and I don't often look to the vegetables as reason for why I would return to the restaurant. It was the perfect meal. I can only imagine that the kitchen staff consists of a band of retired European chefs who wanted to retire to Yucaipa, a major Southern California OHV and mountain biking hotspot while keeping up their skills. That's not to say the menu was old fashioned, I'm just saying these folks are talented and they pay close attention to every element on the plate. Definitely will be recommending this...
Read moreThis was our second time eating here. The first time, I ordered the flat steak, which was very tender and flavorful. My wife ordered lamb chops, which she loved. This time, we both ordered the flat steak and the spinach and artichoke appetizer. It took quite a while for the appetizer to be delivered, and the waitress apologized. The dip itself was tasty, but the Haus bread pieces that came with it were so saturated in oil. The potato chips were overcooked and hard. The steaks took a long time to be served, and my beer was now almost gone. This time, the steaks, while tasty, were tough and chewy. I would have liked more of the sauce that covered the steak. I liked the potatoes but my wife didn't, she thought they had a bad taste. I rated it a four because the first visit, the steak was superior to the two we received on this visit. The service was slow, considering it wasn't that busy. I didn't appreciate that they charged an additional fee of 3% if you use a credit card. Our bill before the fee was $82. I owned 2 restaurants, and we never charged a separate credit card fee. It's the cost of doing business and should be factored into your pricing. Whose walking around with that much...
